I truly am sad re what appears to be happening. As for me, in a way I am pleased that I am retired. Do I have much ? Not really in a monetary sense--Do I have my honor and my integrity and knowledge of job well done , for my family . my family , my country and myself--Yes I do.

Poor Pollyanna Britt-The Jesuits I feel. taught me well !!

Now then--GO RAMBLERS --

Nothing new. People have left their comfortable jobs for three times the salary at other places for years.

Loyalty is definitely a two way street. I do not fault any coach who leaves because they got a better financial offer. Let's not forget this ... Even we as fans are not completely "loyal." We all agree that Porter has done a fantastic job with this team this year, right? ... Well let's not forget the beginning of the season... There were many of us as recently as the beginning of last years season that wanted a new coach after a terrible record in the horizon. Lots of us had lost all faith in Porter. He had no road wins last year! We were a miracle shot from finishing in last place and being knocked out in the first round of the MVC. If any of us we're in a position of power we would have fired him and started looking for a new coach.... Almost nobody was loyal to Porter. AND remember this --- there was a distinct possibility at the beginning of this season that Doyle was never going to see a game for the 14-15 season. If that would have happened, how many games would we have won? 9? Maybe 10? Miltons injury wouldn't have been Porter's fault and had he not been able to play I'm sure Porter would have put the same amount of effort into winning if not more --- but I guarantee you .. Had we not had him and we had another bad season, everyone would have been calling for his job!

Coaching is a tough business and you are only as good as your recent amount of success... Regardless of how good of a coach you are. Jim Whitesell was a good guy who I believe tried his best, but loyila wasn't loyal to him! They dumped him with years left on his contract -- why? Not enough wins. I understand that people want to keep coaches who are successful in mid major programs, but I guess I'll never understand why people feel betrayed when they leave for more money.... College sports is just such a tough business ....

Point taken Toledo re JW--But a question--When they dumped him, did they pay him or just throw him away ??--
BTW, I am NOT a toady for Admins vis-à-vis Coaches--It IS a two way street.

Of course, if a Coach does NOT win , he should be gone. As in the real world, if I did not produce for USS, I should have been dumped---I did have a good run and guess what, I was rewarded--TWO WAY STREET !

Another thing-How much really is ENOUGH ?? In Marshall's case, maybe a nice little raise by WSU should he exceed expectations--real expectations.

Now then , should LUC beat Seattle and prevail in the tourney, maybe LUC might do something nice for Porter, because in my mind his team will have exceeded this year's expectations.

Oh and another thing--At the end of last year I, for one , did not think PM was the one--BUT I quickly apologized in an early post this season--Might have been after the Kent game when I looked into his eyes and some of his team's as well. These guys were with him--you could tell.
