Another fun game at the Joe! I could really get used to all of these home games!

UL-Monroe seems like a decent enough team to make this series competitive. Ramblers will win it all in three!

1 at LU, 2 and 3 if necessary on road

Wait...what? That seems silly. I really wanted the championship win to happen at the Joe! I take back my initial prediction. Ramblers win it all in two.

Loyola opens the championship series on Monday night (March 30) at Gentile Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. The series shifts to Monroe for game two on Wednesday night with the decisive game three, if necessary, set for Friday night.

This quote from Loyola's presser kind of leaves it up in the air where a third game would be played.

I hope it's not set in stone that it would be in Monroe...

I would have liked us to win a championship on our home floor, but you can't fault the administration for the 1 at home and possibly 2 on the road. There is no denying that the 3 home games this far have propelled us to the championship. We are a postseason finalist in 1 of the 4 tournaments !

My hopes at the beginning of the year:
1) win a road game -- accomplished
2) not finish last in the league - accomplished
3) win an MVC tourney game (even if a thursday one) - accomplished

Everything else has just been gravy ! How awesome is it to be a Loyola fan right now ?????? Wow.
Just like Porter said on the Score this morning -- Witchita states head coach's first big success was the CBI tournament. We are on our way up! Hopefully these guys fan just play loose and win 2 more games ! Success is in site! In many ways I've enjoyed this more than the NCAA tourney! We have a chance at a trophy and a title !!!! Go Ramblers !!!

I'm adtually excited to talk about what we expect and hope for next year! One step at a time though !

Just got back from the game about an hour ago. Fun trip. After I bought my ticket I was walking through the Norville Center hallway on my way to Chipotle for my lucky burrito, when Milton Doyle walked out of a doorway. I stopped in my tracks, and must have looked like a creepy stalker-- I was just surprised to see him walk out of the door just as I was passing. Then out of the door behind him came Earl Peterson and Jay Jay Elvir. I shook their hands and wished them good luck.

Dropped into Ireland's for a few minutes and spoke with ahunte1 and his wife. First time I've been there... it seems like the place is about where the old Alumni Gym swimming pool was...

At the game I met Steve Watson for a minute. Nodded at LaRue Martin as we passed each other in the hall. After the game talked with Big Joe at Bruno's and Coach Moser came in as we were leaving-- I congratulated him on nice halftime adjustments.

As for the game itself, it was a brutal first half. We could not penetrate their zone, and when we did, 6'11" Jack Crook was a pretty tough rim protector. The only way we stayed in the game was incredible defense against Umipig. He kept trying to get shots off screens, and most of the time we were great at getting around them or getting weak side help. To hold a guy who's second in the nation in three pointers made to only two is phenomenal, but we did the same to their other top three point shooter. Great defensive game plan.

I thought we got the benefit of a few calls (some by our old HL ref friend Lamont Simpson), but there were a couple like the last play in the first half that was terrible and went against us. I have not been impressed by the refs in this tournament-- bad calls, inconsistent calls, slow whistles, confusion, etc. Hope it improves now that it's down to two teams.

In the second half we went at Crook and got him out of the game with foul trouble, which allowed much better penetration and finishing, and spread the floor. I thought Seattle played well, and I can see how they'd beat some good teams like UC Davis, Pepperdine and Colorado. As I was leaving the arena, some of the Seattle players crossed my path in the hallway on the way to their locker room, and they were devastated-- they really wanted to win badly, and they weren't at all just happy to be there.

Did you end up making it to Chipotle to get the burrito?

I hope you like burritos because you're going to be eating them on Monday and Wednesday.
