Last evening Notre Dame was essentially beaten by a BIG man having his way down low--In my opinon the Irish were the better TEAM but--
This game to me personifies how good we really are--WE did all we did without a real BIG !! TWENTY -TWO wins without a BIG and 11 games without our best player, who really was playing hurt all season (labia ) . What we could have done with that one really Big, is awesome to behold. I take nothing away from our Thomas et al--They are superb.
Granted, we did not play the schedule that the IRISH did--BUT we stood "tall" playing against the schedule we were given. Next season will produce a better slate I am sure---Great Alaska plus MW opponent--Porter and Watson will bring in others.
An early look at the Valley says to me, that we will be in top four-- Thomas and Crisman will be big shoes to fill--but Porter will come through ---I am in his corner now--Someone on another thread said Whitesell was a good man--He was and I am sure is--BUT he did not win enough. Porter is a winner now--Am pleased LUC and he are in negotiations for an extension--I hope this is accurate and that he is around for a long time.
Anyway, how we did what we did without a true BIG is a testament to this bunch of Loyolans and to PORTER !!
GO RAMBLERS
Agree with all this, but Karl Anthony Towns is not your everyday big. He might be the #1 pick in the NBA draft next year. I think mid-majors are always going to be at a disadvantage recruiting skilled bigs simply because there aren't that many of them.
