I'm watching the Indiana State game and here's my thought:

Thank you Devon Turk and Jeff White.

You are may not be elite players, but you have been elite Ramblers. Your effort, maturity, demeanor, enthusiasm and manner in which you have represented Loyola should be noted and applauded.

On a personal note, Devon is one of my all-time favorite Ramblers. Both Jeff and Devon have great court personality. You always knew when they were on the court. Simply, they were fun to watch and I will miss both next year.

Regardless of that footnote, I just wanted to call both these fine men out. You have represented our University in such a commendable way and I know you will both be a success in your next endeavors.

And here we are in OT and Devon is in on both sides of the ball. His D improvement has been tremendous. Keke has played the whole OT, as well.

Very well said. I will be sad to see them leave the program as they have been fun to watch the last four years. They have also seen the lows and highs over the last four years. They are both fine young men.
WHAT IS OFTEN FORGOTTEN IS THE ROLE OF COACHING. Porter Moser has been a fine guide and mentor. Whatever some of his most severe critics may say, I think they would have to agree that Devon and Keke have grown as young men under the guidance of a fine coaching staff. Porter has created a CULTURE of being the best you can be both on and off the court. His players respect him and represent Loyola well. That is not an easy thing to do in today's world.
Thanks for your remarks RamblerSam. I hope others will take them to heart when they start calling for Porter to leave.

25yrstreak, also well put. Since you mentioned Porter, I have one comment. During Devon and Jeff's first 2 years, I thought Porter coached with too much emotion. Every mistake immediately cost a player floor time. There was no patience and teaching was often administered by pulling the player who committed an error. Porter has grown and matured. He has been more patient. Still fiery, but with restrain and more willingness to let a player gain confidence by playing better. Yes, we still see some quick hooks, but talented players spend less time in his doghouse. I credit Devon and Jeff for sticking through the difficult Porter and Coach Moser for making changes that brought out the best in players like Jeff and Devon, especially over the last 2 years.

Well, Sam, Porter MUST have made SOME changes , what with going from the high fifties /low sixties to over 100 pts (2ots ffor sure). I credit him with turning the team loose against a decent team. Btw, he still does a tad more screeching at the guys than I would like (at Doyle near the end of regular time or maybe in 1st OT) However a discount because of the type of game it was. I actually prefer Wooden type demeanor) , but it is what it is. Run and gun will bring excitement to everyone.
He may now have the team organized. Jull credit for that.
THIS WAS HOOPS--REAL HONEST TO GOSH HOOPS.
Now one small detail--Our guys can whip a man to man Defense as we ARE quick--Hopefully we get lick a zone as well , because we will be seeing a lot of it.
One thing is for sure these days--We CAN shoot freebies. We drive we get fouled--and lately we have been making them. More good marks for PM --He motivated the team to work on this aspect.
I truly wish the team and its Coach well--They just may be winner on a certain level here.

A minor note--ESPN CHGO had a story on De PEWLS latest flop X beat them handily00We PROBABLY played the best game of the Chgo year, or at least one of them and ESPN wrote NADA typical !

I am a Peoria guy so I have always rooted a little extra hard for jeff WHite. As a freshman he showed potential.....thought he was improving and was really getting to the rim as a sophomore....then the injury really cost him....he just wasnt as fast last year. This year off and on but yesterday he looked so confident and confidence always seemed to need improvement. Did you see him guard SMith in the overtimes??? in his face!...great to see. And I love to watch him with the ball ...just seems to glide.
and Devon going to the hoop and hitting the pull up jumper and playing D. Improvement from both and everything I hear about these guys is that they are quality guys. So thanks for the 4 years plus (Sunday in the Tournament)
