Thanks HUNTI !! My editorial !! Not a good enough win !! We should have done better especially DEFENSE !! Final score should have been something like 79-42 !!

Lots of work to do !!

79-63 Loyola

Midway through the 2nd half, Loyola pulled away. It was a 19-point lead with about 4 or 5 minutes left. Not much in doubt, and the lineup featured bench players and newcomers throughout. If it was closer, coach could have played the experienced lineup of Ingram, Custer, Richardson, Jackson and Townes for 30 minutes. But Williamson, Krutwig, Satterwhite, and Skokna got a lot time.

A lot to like in this game, JCT nailed it. Bradley beat Lewis 71-58; they're a good D2 team that you can't sleep on, that said we were always in control.

Loved what we saw from Krutwig, he had a couple of those passes down court that will lead to a lot of open looks, and he didn't get too high or too low. He was also super vocal; I really think he could be one of the better bigs in the valley as early as next season and a solid contributor in his own right this year.

No worries guys. Coach was testing the waters, that's what this type of game is for.
The only thing I would say about Cam K is fake more, work on his balance posting. The possibilities of this guy is off the charts!
The defense fell apart when some key players wasn't on the floor.

I love the energy Townes brings to the game.
I think the boys looked good, coach had to mix things up, he could have easily ran away with the game.
Did anyone scout the Bradley game to know if he mixed things up like coach did.

The season looks promising. The scoring options are good so no worries.

Just a few observations for what it's worth:

1. Love Krutwig. He can't jump (Came up woefully short on an attempted stuff; had two layup tries blocked.) but will haul in any rebound below the rim. Great passer. Will start a lot of fastbreaks with his outlet passes and will give Jackson and Ingram a lot of easy baskets down low feeding them from the high post. Will contribute this year, no doubt.

2. Carson Shanks seems like a smart and funny guy from his Twitter feed, and is a full head taller than anybody on the team besides Krutwig, but he doesn't seem to be gifted with many basketball skills. Moser sat him until garbage time late in the game, and I can understand why. He will likely not see the floor that often and will be a spot contributor depending on matchups.

3. Lucas Williamson did connect on a three but he didn't look comfortable handling the ball. Granted it was his first game, but I'm wondering whether he may be more of an undersized forward than a backcourt player.

4. I thought the starters played well aside from their 3 point shooting (save Richardson). Ball movement was crisp and they seemed alert and energetic on defense.

5.Was disappointed that Negron wasn't dressed. I hope his recovery is proceeding well, and that he is cleared to play soon. What with his injury, I don't expect too much from him this year. He might even be a candidate for a redshirt year.

I didn’t watch the Bradley game but a quick look at the box score makes it seem like they did the same. No one played more than 26 minutes. That said Bradley doesn’t have as many new pieces as we do, they didn’t lose anyone of note as far as I remember....

Edit: Second glance at Lewis's box score and Lewis experimented with backups way more against Bradley. Lewis played 5 players 24 minutes or more (4 played 28+) and didn't give their bench at ton of time; likely more of a regular season look. Looks like there was a lot more experimenting in their game against Bradley. May not matter much, but it's worth pointing out.
