KenPom has us ranked at #93 (behind front-runner Illinois State).

College Sports Madness has us ranked at #100, tops in the MVC.

Bart Torvik's T-Rank has us at #64.

And as Brot points out, CBS Sports has us picked at #74, behind Missouri State at #58.

Torvik predicts us at 21-9 overall, 12-6 in conference going into Arch Madness. That's with Missouri State finishing 11-7, and both Illinois State and Bradley going 10-8. Torvik has Northern Iowa (picked 2nd in the MVC Preseason poll) finishing the regular season in 5th place at 9-9.

If you dig deeper on his rankings, when it gets down to the player level, he predicts Townes, Shanks and Negron as being a big part of the team usage, but Krutwig doesn't show up on his radar. Personally, I think Krutwig is going to get at least as many if not more minutes than Shanks (unless he has more trouble with fouls than I think). I also think Krutwig could be the MVC Freshman of the Year. Although we have experience (3 seniors and a redshirt junior all playing starters minutes last year) returning to the team, it's probably going to be up to our newcomers (Townes, Shanks, Negron, Krutwig, Williamson, and Avery-- if he can play) to decide whether we'll get a top two seed at Arch Madness.

I would say probably 3-4x as many minutes as Shanks, barring foul trouble like you said.

Don't forget about Skokna and Satterwhite. I'm hopeful that one or both of them can take a strong leap forward this year.

I was going to put this in the MVC Media Day thread I started, but since it was brought up here, I figured I'd post some of what Porter said there.

For the "newcomers" he brought up 2 specific players. He mentioned Krutwig as a player who will have an impact. Called him a "five-man who makes everyone else better." Krutwig was one of the first names he mentioned, so I think it's safe to say, we'll probably see a lot of him this year. Marques Townes was the other person he mentioned. There wasn't a whole lot there except for him coming of the redshirt, and us having success with transfers like him (Milton and Clayton).

For the returners, he said Aundre has improved, especially with conditioning. Finally, he said that Satterwhite and Bruno are two players who have had a good offseason and should help replace some of what Milton did for us.
