I also want to say this: MVC folks love to rip on Porter, saying he’s one of the worst coaches in the conference....but how many times this year have we just come out firing in the second half. That’s great halftime adjustments. That’s great coaching.

Totally agree. It's like we play the first half just to figure out how to demolish opponents. After this game, we've outscored opponents by 147 points in the second half. We've got a 821-674 advantage in second halves. That's huge.

As the season goes on, I hope that people start to see he's better than they think. Like y'all said, the halftime adjustments have been great. I also think that he wins more times than not coming out of timeouts. Look at last night:

1st TV Timeout: Krutwig gets a good look, and misses his shot.
After Drake goes on a 7-0 run, and Porter calls a TO with 13:13 left in the first half. Out of it, Jackson gets a layup which sparks a 9-2 run.
2nd TV Timeout: Offense starts to go cold, but defensively Drake only gets 4 points over the next 5 minutes.
3rd TV Timeout: Williamson gets an open look and drains a 3.
4th TV Timeout: Drake scores a basket. Our offense, which started to go cold again, scores on 2 of the next 3 possessions, with the miss being on a layup.
2 seconds left Drake draws up a full court play which gets them a contested shot that misses.

Halftime we come out strong. Drake calls a TO and it's followed by a TV Timeout 30 seconds later. Drake made the adjustment here and slowed our offense down. Drake wins 5-3 until the the under 12 Timeout.
Out of it, Jackson converts on a layup and the following possessions are a mix of layups or open 3 attempts.
At the same time, Drake hits their run scoring on their next 5 possessions and tied it up. Moser calls the TO with 9:19 left. We made the needed adjustments, and obviously start the 29-6 run. Big part was putting Custer back in the game.
Townes got a layup immediately following the under 8 Timeout when we were only up 7, and at the next stoppage we were up 17 with 3:51 to play.

More times than not we created a positive opportunity or run out of a timeout. I remember in past years, being baffled at how bad the team played coming out of any break of play. Now I feel confident we'll be the ones to make the right adjustment or play.

I think Porter has really grown as a coach from when he first came here.I don't think you would have seen the same type of success when he first came in. I don't mean that about talent (which is obviously a factor), but about Porter's planning.

Also interesting, our RPI and Kenpom are very close, from NCAA our RPI is 60, and Kenpom is 61. Sagarin has us at 79. Keep the domination up maybe we finish top 50? That would be very cool

Got to watch the replay today after following the live stats during the game last night. One thing I didn't see anyone here comment on is that Krutwig stepped up and took another charge. That's two games in a row, I believe. There were some jokes on Twitter from his high school coach or teammates about how he never took a charge in high school. It's something the coaching staff worked hard on with him and believed that if he took one, more would follow.
