No we are not talking about a point guard.

We are talking about coach Moser’s choice to start at power forward for the last 2 games: Chrisitan Negron. So far (at least until we meet with St. Joe at their place this weekend), LU is undefeated when Negron starts at power forward.

He leads the team in FT shooting (77.7%) and he is second to Krutwig in FG% shooting (57%)(10th in the MVC).

He leads LU in A/TO ratio 3.0 (4th in the MVC). Leads LU with the fewest TOs/40.

Highest points per minute (after the big 3 - Krutwig, Custer, & Townes) 12.9/40 & now is second in rebounds per 40 (12.5/40) after big Frank.

He has now cut down on his fouls per minute below 5/40.

Chris was a very highly rated HS junior who sat out his HS senior year with injuries & was limited by the same last year. It looks like the coach’s patience with him has paid off, now that he is playing in his natural power forward position, next to our super center, Cameron Krutwig (& as big Frank is cutting down on his fouls & is more available for back up center minutes).

Go Ramblers!

interesting ! what impresses me the most is his ball handling for a big guy....and seems like a natural rebounder. Isnt there an overall score for your team when you are in the game?

I’m always wary of small sample sizes, which his minutes this year are still relatively small, but yes he has been playing fantastic and I’m liking our bigs rotation

Are we watching the same Negron? I can’t remember him handling the ball much at all, and definitely not to a level that I would say is impressive

Where were you the last couple of games. He handled the ball in the backcourt a number of times and at the top of the key in the weave.

Negron plays like an Albanian middle aged man getting a colonoscopy: Early indications are promising but there's still a long road to travel with many twists and turns before a final verdict can be reached.

It's been cool to see Negron at the podium following the last two games, he's confident and knows and accepts his role. Great team player. Hopefully he gets some more PT in the future, his free throws have been much improved but the sample size is so small you can't get too carried away. It's been good to see he's stayed out of foul trouble for the most part this year as well. Hopefully he can play 15-20 mpg come conference play!
