Things are so bad that the guy who runs the Evansville basketball message board is SHUTTING IT DOWN, for good, before the end of the year. It looks like he's already blocked any new posts after he posted the announcement:

https://www.purpleacesfans.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1949

I wouldn't be surprised, though, if he posted this in the heat of the moment and reconsiders after the smoke clears.

Seems dumb to shut their forum down. I would think that now would be the time to keep a place open for diehard fans to stick together.

I feel bad for Evansville. Everything seemed like it was going in a positive direction for them and this just sinks them. If Twitter is right, EU needs to just bite the bullet, get rid of him, and get a new coach in STAT to keep their fanbase and support. The longer EU draws this out the worse I think their administration is going to look. The sensational allegation overshadows the full story right now — but eventually what will need to be looked at is what led up to the bombshell - most notably - WHO reprimanded him at an earlier point in time? When did they do it? What steps did they take to monitor him? Etc.

The press release from the university made it seem like they knew there was a problem before and tried to deal with it internally. That looks bad to me....

They need to go out and try to get someone who gives them some hope - David Padgett? John Scheyer? Bryce Drew?

depending on the severity of how this all rolls out.......where was the due diligence in his hiring....this sounds like the kind of behavior that just does not start at 45......and then if it was a big time booster who got this rolling.....But I agree TR...the sooner they get this done and over the better....and hopefully they can move on... If I am correct their 2500 enrollment is the smallest in the Valley.....gotta be tough to begin with...without this.

In the wake of the news there come out, I’ve done a lot of looking at Title VI, and if what has been discussed in Twitter is true and the University has knowledge of prior conduct by the head coach, Evansville is in for a world of hurt, i.e. civil lawsuits, penalties, etc.

With an endowment short of 200 million and an enrollment of 2,500 students, there are going to be serious financial implications for them in all of this. For us, it’s bad because they are going to bring the league down as far as their spending on basketball, and it sucks because my hope that our conference was starting to get stronger and more competitive.

No matter what happens, I don’t see any way this doesn’t end up costing Evansville a ton of money....

Today's news regarding Walter McCarty will bring to an end to PurpleAcesFans.com.

To those who actively participated here, I thank you and apologize for cutting you off in the middle of the season. With the nature of the items listed in UE's press release, my belief that this issue will be ongoing for months and years, I believe it is in my best interest to ensure no rumor or innuendo is spread through me.

Furthermore, I can't describe my fury at this situation at the moment. But what I can say is that I will not continue to support UE in any way, including by continuing to host this site. This domain will be disconnected on Monday, in an effort to beat out a January 1 billing date, and all threads will be read-only until the deed is done.

I do wish to state clearly and unequivocally that I have no connection to UE, any of its trustees, or any of its employees, and this decision is wholly mine, and specifically that it is not related to the pressure which caused Mark Spencer and Walter to withdraw from social media.

Owner of the fan site terminating all affiliation with the school and believes the issue will be ongoing for years. My guess is the pregnancy rumor circulating twitter and reddit is true because this seems like a dramatic overreaction if it was just the items in the press release.

McCarty is PREGNANT?!? I find that hard to believe. He's 45 years old.

It's Trump's fault.
