I was just sitting around thinking about the origins of his unusual first name when it occurred to me that it might be a mashup of those famous lovers, Marc Anthony (Antony) and Cleopatra: Think about it...Cle-Anthony.

So I did what people do today when they have a question, I began Googling. And it turns out I was right. Not only is Cleanthony named after the coosome twosome, he has an identical twin sister (I didn't even know that was possible!) who is also named after them: Anthopatra.

But there's more. (What did you expect?) The extended Early clan apparently has a long history of naming their offspring by combining the names of famous people they admire.

For example, one aunt liked Greek mythology and the tv show Two And A Half Men. So she named her daughter after the goddess Aphrodite and Charlie Sheen. Meet Aphrosheen

Aphrosheen's brother was named after Gone With The Wind's lovers Rhett Butler and Scarlett O'Hara: Buthar (pronounced Butt Hair).

An uncle who was a history buff named his son after Julius Caesar and the Sultan who fought the Crusaders, Saladin. Caesarsalad Early is currently a walk-on at Creighton.

Another uncle was a big fan of Motown legend Smokey Robinson and the Great Emancipator. Naturally, he named his son Smokeylinc.

Don't be be surprised if I find some more Early mashup names on Google soon!

Cleanthony himself is planning on naming his first-born son after a Biblical figure and the nickname for his beloved Wichita:

ZebedeeDoodah Early.
