If anyone is interested, the banquet was a nice event - all joking aside.

I sat at a table with Billy Clark and his dad, Cal Kennedy plus two members of his family, and Cody Johnson.

Cody was the only one of the transferring players to attend. I don't blame any of the others for not attending at all, but it was a classy move of Cody to be there. I've met him twice, and he has struck me both times as a good, sincere guy. He said he's taking a visit to a school in California and will keep playing basketball.

Moser talked about the three seniors: Nixon, Boone, and Clark. He had great things to say about all of them, in particular Boone. Porter got a little choked up talking about how Derrick worked himself onto the team basically by never going away even after Porter told him that they weren't looking to add any walk-ons.

Both Boone and Clark spoke for a few minutes. Billy stole the show with his speech. I couldn't do it justice by recounting it here.

Moser didn't have a lot to say about the two biggest topics people care about, recruiting or the schedule. This was the day before Marlon Jones signed, and PM only hinted that good things were happening. He seemed to be optimistic about the next AD being a partner in continuing to build the basketball program. PM didn't say it explicitly, but I got the impression from others that the Vegas tournament will happen. There was no Q&A.

I spoke briefly with Bob Clark about the need to engage basketball alumni in the program. I hope that the next AD will take that initiative.
