Loyola has been searching for an Athletic Director since the announcement of Grace Calhoun's hiring at Penn on March 24. Meanwhile, over at Evansville, their Athletic Director announced his retirement on June 6, about 10 1/2 weeks after Calhoun's resignation. Today Evansville announced the hiring of their new AD:

How is it that a similar sized program in the same conference (and in a much less desirable location, I believe) managed to conduct a full national search and hire a candidate from 2200 miles away in almost half the time it has taken Loyola to fill the spot? Frankly, I expected an announcement on the AD job to be made today-- by Loyola, not by Evansville.
I have no idea how the new Evansville AD will work out, but he seems to have a pretty good pedigree: Oregon State, St. Louis University, East Tennessee State. I can only hope our AD will have similarly impressive credentials, especially given how long it has taken to find that person.
