I was in a meeting where Porter talked about the new players on the team. He said that despite Montel James looking good in practice, he was still deciding whether or not to red shirt Montel. Do you think Milton's injury will make Porter less likely to RS Montel? Milton's injury and a RS Montel could make this a really rough season.

I heard him say that redshirting Julius would have been an option, but they are too thin in the frontcourt to do it. Are you sure he was talking about Montel?

Why don't we just red-shirt everyone? We can have another 4 win season this year!

Montel James is a junior college transfer. I don't think he could be redshirted even if Moser wanted to do it. Moser said he would like to redshirt Julius, not Montel.

Hunte !! Is there a physical reason to RS Rajala ????? Cripes--If not why do it ? Unless of course , PM wants to play a line-up of "little people"--

PM is now finally making me remember opening of Cicero's oration--"For how long oh Porter are you going to abuse our patience" ??? Or something like that !!

Welcome to Ramblermania, 68.

I thought the same thing, but upon researching it, I found there is nothing in the rules to prevent it.

In fact, Iowa State football seems to make it a regular practice to redshirt junior college transfers.

He was just saying that if we had more big guys on the roster, a RS year would be an option. I assume it would be to get him stronger. As it is, he's going to have to play.

Why would we need to red shirt Rajala? He's already 20 years old, with two years of experience playing on the Finnish under 20 national team. So it's basically like he's already redshirted two years. If it's for "teaching finer points" or waiting for him to bulk up, I think I'd rather have him playing minutes in game situations. It didn't do us a lot of good to have Jeremy King red shirt.
