I saw that Northwestern is in discussion with the United Center for basketball dates. I think resurrection of the old double headers would have been a great way to get our name back on the front page as well as set up games that would have helped recruiting. How bout LU/Iowa and Northwestern/Duke with a suburban/city high school game to fill the bill?

No reason we can't try to get on the card and let Northwestern do the heavy lifting and take the risks - if in fact they are looking at double headers. But the old double header days from the 60s are gone. Back then there were no nationally televised games. Chicago Stadium was about the only place you could see a broad selection of highly ranked teams - six dates for Loyola and 18 other teams including Illinois and Notre Dame to really fill up the place. I believe that Madison Square Garden and the Palestra in Philidelphia catered more to Eastern teams who were not the powerhouses they are today.

Screamy-Deemy, you bring back memories AGAIN !! But these double-headers went on in the 40s and 50s.
Most schools are still around--OKLA A & M--now State--KY, Ill, NW, UCLA, INDIANA, St John's GTN---Many more--and one famous team--BELOIT COLLEGE!! They had a team that was better than decent--believe it.
The old Madison Sq gang has taken some hits--NYU, CCNY are two that come to mind--But St John's marches on. As to the Philly crowd--THEY never left--Good for them.

We are now heading back to prominence--We had it back in the day --We shall be there again. !!

GO RAMBLERS !!
