All of this talk about bigs, or lack of bigs, got me looking at some videos of our recruits. No doubt we need to land a solid big or two in this 2017 class. Best case scenario in my opinion would be landing a skilled, scoring big like Krutwig and athletic, defensive big like Shadd. Would give our roster a lot of flexibility.

Here is a link to Krutwig's junior highlights for those of you who haven't seen him play. Listed at 270 lbs is a little concerning but college S&C would get him in shape.

1st video.

Really impressed by Krutwigs passing. He's got some great velocity/accuracy on some of those passes. Impressive footwork as well... He'd be a huge building block here offensively and defensively. Hopefully we're still the odds on favorite!

According to Scott Phillips (@phillipshoops) on Twitter: "Loyola had Jacobs Class of 2017 big man Cameron Krutwig on campus for an unofficial visit today, per a source."

That has to be a good sign, right???

"Sources telling me @RamblersMBB is the clear frontrunner to land the 6'9 Jacobs/Fundamental U Big Fella @camkrutwig"

Definitely a good sign.

You're slowing down, Aaron. It took you a full 11 minutes to post the news of Krutwig's commitment after it broke on Twitter.
I expect better!

This is great news! We need a true big and he fits the bill (although his listed height of 6'9" is stretching it a bit).
I watched his new mixtape and the player that comes to mind for me is Butler's Matt Howard of their Final Four teams. Crafty around the basket, plays below the rim, good footwork, hussles, can shoot from 3, good passer, soft hands. Smart on and off the court. Very pleased.
Now maybe we can get a commitment from his AAU teammate, combo guard Jimmy Sotos, who we recently offered.

I have a good excuse which I will post about in another thread. For now, here's a follow up interview with Krutwig:

SCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP.

Excited about this commitment. Chastain and Krutwig makes two splashy in state commitments within a couple of months. Got to love that. Seems like a high character kid who could be a big piece to build around in the future. That means in 17-18 we'll have Krutwig and Townes (who I expect to be the real deal) coming in plus 1-2 more scholarship players. Arrows pointed up.

I think this is a great get for us. We get a true big that we have been waiting for for a while. He is noted as a good passer which for a big is rare so special. I assume he will have some work to do getting into shape when he gets on campus but overall I think this will be very good for us. And good job Mullins on being the lead recruiter on this he's making some progress could always use a young coach that is a good recruiter.
