Over the course of hiring, reviewing and responding we are probably looking at all 3 ADs with some responsibility but isnt Kelly the common denominator ? This really needs to be cleaned up. Might make it difficult for AD Watson to leave for Bowling Green with this attached to his belt.

This is far from over. How will NCAA respond and the Valley? What else will come to light?
And now there is a @saveswoopes twitter account and of course her asst coach Jeanine Wasielewski retweeted it. That shows great institutional control.

As the saying goes, shit rolls downhill. I hope those responsible in the administration are held accountable (read: Kelly)

A seemingly similar thing happened at WSU's women's program just last year. Pretty sure nothing resulted from it.

This IS a true MESS !! If what the Phoenix reports is reasonably accurate , it looks as if Swoopes and Watson's
predecessor are mostly at fault--Why ?? In my opinion--

--Swoopes had little experience in coaching--especially YOUNG ladies.
--AD Calhoun at the time covered up the problem.
--12 to 15 KIDS wanted out--That IS the key
Ours and many schools like ours have young amateurs--not what appear to be at very least semi-pros--Male and female
If indeed our ladies were told NOT to talk to anyone "outside the group" --Fire this group immediately--If a youngster cannot discuss matters with Parents, the PRESIDENT should step in and end this NOW.

What is this talk of Watson leaving for BGU ?? I missed something--Maybe Alma Mater ??--Again dismiss him and acknowledge a mistake.

As I have said, it is now RUG CUTTIN TIME !! Clean up the mess and start OVER !! This has been going on for two or more years.

BTW , there ARE always two sides as a rule--Maybe not--this time--We shall see.

I read Cate Soane's letter and it is really shocking. Everyone should read the letter. Players should not be treated like this and having a locker room with such a hostile environment is awful. I am interested to what the independent investigation will lead to. In any case I do not see any reason why Swoops should not be fired. The coach is there for the players not the other way around. If five players left last year and now 10 or so are wanting to leave this year that is ridiculous you cannot have a coach like that staying around.

Had this sent to me this morning. Dawn Staley is the head coach at USC and played with Swoopes on USA basketball.

"Not that anyone who had been around Staley was surprised that coaching would eventually claim her interest. She had been the quintessential point guard, a job she viewed as a combination of serving other people and learning what it took to get the best out of them. By the time she was ready to take the Temple job, she had convinced herself that the skills it took to coach were no different than understanding the difference between playing with Sheryl Swoopes, who needed more coddling and encouragement, than the tough motivation she could give Lisa Leslie."

It was a few years ago at WSU and all that was discovered was I believe practices may have gone a little long and she may have been a little too verbally "abusive" and is under a more watchful eye now. Many Shocker fans are concerned with how many transfers her squad has and that comes down to recruiting. She's an intense coach and is going to get on the girls to push them. Why is she recruiting players who don't have the ability to handle that sort of tough love approach? I know some kids may seem like they can take it but don't, but we have a lot of turnover in the program and we are never very deep. Even the three straight years we won the Valley we never went more than maybe 7 deep. Usually 6. And we relied heavily on one player.

But there are no confirmed reports of abuse or denying anything to the ladies. All that have left have said they've received all the support they could ask for from the University in order to chase their dreams, but they didn't mesh well with Coach Adams and can't handle her intense and vocal nature.

Personally, I think something needs to change in Wichita as she can't sustain success with the way things are going. She can't recruit an Alex Harden every year.
