Really bummed. The release says they've been "testing for the past 16 weeks with no positives until this point," and "in response to these positive cases," so it's more than one. Language also hints that at least one of the unknown multiple cases is a non-player.
I was especially looking forward to the Cincinnati and Duquesne games, which would have connected our .NET rankings to the American and A-10, which are expected to have multiple teams in the tournament.
I guess with 25 or 30 people in the group of "student-athletes, coaches, managers and staff" and Covid-19 resulting in **checks notes** an average of over 10,000 new cases per day in Illinois to go with nearly 100 deaths a day, it's useless to try to affix blame for carelessness, but I'm still a little angry at whomever dropped the ball this close to tip off.
I said back in April--- just wear the damn mask, keep 6 feet away, and wash your frickin' hands. Pretty simple. Relatively painless. And what I got back was I'm "a partisan hack," and people who encourage mask wearing are "Covid scolds." All you guys had to do was stick to the program.
