Considering the hit to enrollment many schools are fearing because of the last year, with remote classes taking off and some no longer seeing value in spending $40k/year on college, the higher-ups should take note, keep and promote the one big difference and value traditional college has....student life, networking and all the fun and advantages that go with. A successful basketball program helps to fuel all of that.

Sorry just dont think it is about money for Porter...I think he loves Loyola and all is stands for. He loves Chicago....but this is about him being able to reach the pinnacle of his craft....as a coach....I remember a few years ago when they were scrambling for a few donations so the team could fly to Carbondale for a really important game , instead of the 7 hour trip by bus.....So yes in some ways it is about money,,,but not about salary....money to recruit and travel and what ever things make up a chance to succeed ......So the question for Porter is,,,IS the Unitversity committed to giving him a consistent chance to win a national title...I think when Porter looks back on his career I dont think it will be about what he owns
Also there is no doubt the U has gained financially from its basketball success.......I worked at a high school in the Chicago suburbs...with 3 catholic churches....population 20,000 None of the kids ever mentioned LU...it was always Marquette and ND.....now in the last 5 years we have have 4 athletes go to LU.....and 11 students.

I agree, Nate. Maybe it's a distinction without a difference, but I don't think he leaves strictly for the money. It would be because he knows you can more reliably get into the tournament from a bigger conference. So I think it comes down to Loyola committing the resources to dominate the MVC at a Wichita State level or exploring a conference change. In other words, putting ourselves in position to get at-large bids. We have the name brand now, so I don't think it's out of the question to get there from the MVC.
