This really is just a poor schedule. Way too many teams with above 300 rpi. I had some hope for better teams but I guess it's not happening. It will hopefully allow us to do well in non conference but that isn't really worth anything if we do terrible in conference play.

Our schedule last year was terrible too. How'd that work out for us?

I'll be honest, I don't even really know what McKendree is. Does that game count in our record?

I was planning on buying season tickets for my girlfriend and I. That won't be happening anymore. If we don't totally embarrass ourselves against the trash competition, I may show up to a few home conference games.

Don't forget, if you buy season tickets, you get access to women's basketball and men's volleyball games, too!

The bright side:
Michigan State-- We should probably have at least one game against a Top 50 program every year. It would be better if we could do it by trying to make a 2-for-1 deal and bring them into the Joe every once in a while, but genuine 2-for-1s are getting harder to do.
Tulane-- They'll be in the AAC this year, so probably a little better for their RPI.
Vegas Tourney-- Odds are that one of the teams we'll face will be in the top 100 RPI, and it's at a neutral site.
UIC-- It's unlikely they'll be as bad as last year.

The dark side:
Non DI games-- There's really no excuse for more than one non-D1 game. And both to start the season? The text of the release talks about "building a successful program," and we're adding more irrelevant/uninteresting games to the home schedule? We don't have a home game against D1 competition until December 3.
Vegas tourney home games-- Abilene Christian and Utah State are probably going to be as bad as last year, which is among the worst in D1.
Home competition-- The highlight of our home non-con schedule is Tulane. Nobody else above 299 in RPI last year.
Road compeition-- Our true road games are against teams that were 215, 308, 317, and 17. That's a bad mix.

They're about 40 miles east of St. Louis, your home town, and you haven't heard of them? They're famous for their former coach winning 1077 games in NAIA. (His 1000th win was against the school I used to work for.)
