I am a St. Bonaventure and Loyola alumni. Steve Watson is an amazing talent. He is a low key guy who gets things done and builds strong relationships. He hired Mark Schmidt at Bona. It's funny how both schools are in the same boat. Excellent head coaches who may leave for a higher profile job. I am grateful for Porter and Mark. Inevitably, alums will try to rationalize as to why certain jobs aren't really better than the current one. Some will have hard feelings if the coach leaves. The bottom line remains that either coach will make the best decision possible for self and family. I obviously hope that both coaches stay. However, I am confident that both schools are attractive to a talented pool of potential replacements. Although the A10 is a multi-bid conference, Loyola is in a stronger position due to location. Go Ramblers and Bonnies! Make some noise in the dance.

Totally agree with you on Steve and Porter....I think this has been a team deal and I would hate to lose either one....but I think Steve would be harder to replace.....He has elevated several of our programs during difficult financial times...Good Luck to the Bonnies.

Good article about the Hartford coach (they won the America East) -- friend of Porter:

It was probably before your time as a Rambler fan ahunte1, but Jerell Parker (he of the legendary Aluminum Suit) transferred from Loyola to Hartford after the really miserable 2000-01 season. Parker was considered one of the top recruits in the state in 1999. He's a VP at CBS Television based in Chicago.

Loved the aluminum suit. Classic! Correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t he also the one who chucked it off the rafters at Chicago State?

Yes. That was Jerell Parker. Had a decent end to his career at Hartford.

Minnesota, Indiana, and DePaul all opened. Indiana probably has their eyes set above Porter, and I’m not super worried about Minnesota or DePaul but keeping a wary eye on it. Hoping they all have an expedited process and fill the positions very soon

My concern would be Notre Dame. If that job opens up, I could see them making a run at Porter.
