It seems the perception of the CBI may have changed for power-5 teams. Michigan, Penn State and Northwestern all declined bids this year.

Of course they did. For a lot of these programs, the CBI is a lose-lose scenario. If they were to participate in the CBI and win it all, most fans would not likely be impressed and would point out the seemingly mediocre quality of the bracket. If they were to lose (for example a program like Northwestern potentially losing to cross-town rival Loyola), it would make their less than mediocre season appear pretty abysmal in the eyes of the fans. So, yeah...I don't blame them. If the CBI were to have some sort of guaranteed monetary incentives for participating teams, that would definitely improve the quality of the tournament.

I am glad that tickets for students are free because while I would pay to go see us in the CBI I do not think many other students would. It is not guaranteed we will have a large number of students show up the free tickets will help the numbers.

So if we were to win the CBI... that would give us 5 more wins and put us at 24-13( / 14), right? I don't care what type of tournament this people consider this, a chance to get 24 wins this season is a good thing for the program. I'm really glad we are in it.

It looks to me like the biggest dog in this fight is Colorado (who apparently is without their leading scorer). Would we not have to play them until the championship? If so, how does this "best of 3" series work? Where are the 3 games played???

Also, it looks like the championship game is televised on the CBS Sports network. Will any of these possible games be available on ESPN3?

Ramblers open up as a 3.5 point favorite over Rider.

Surprisingly, it seems that the finals move. One game at one location ten 2 at the other. Final were in NY and California last year! Hard to imagine this generates a lot of income for anyone but GO RAMBLERS! 1 step at a time.

Much to my dismay, I am out of town tomorrow. Anyone know if this game will be on ESPN3 or another computer-accessible source? Would game 2 be at LUC on 3/23?

Thanks for the info! I suppose that's a pretty cool way to do it.

Well, here we are with a chance to get to 20 wins ! Another stepping stone. We are in what 63 alluded to in his cover blog--" Any tournament" .

This is a HUGE deal for our RAMBLERS--not so much for the Chgo Media of course--They must be sad that their darlings DePewl and NW are nowhere to be found.

This years tourney is what it is--so let us just go one game at a time and win it !! Its doable. I like our chances in Tuesday's game. No question, these guys will be ready. The biggie is that Milton got some more rest between games-- I think we have too many guns for Rider on our court. Wouldn't it be nice if a HUGE crowd of students turned out ?
In the game I see Milt scoring big as well as dishing off to a myriad of our guys !! Turk, Christian Earl Donte-and the rest !! PLUS if Kiki erupts, it could get wild.

GO RAMBLERS !! Do NOT let this turn into OXEN BALL !! We are too good now for that in thios game.

I think we should have a pretty good chance against Rider but UCSB in the second game will be tough. I saw Earl walking around campus in a boot and wasn't sure how bad the injury is. I am hoping it is just for precaution and that he will be able to play in the CBI.

One step at a time. Lets get the first win. I don't see Doyle scoring a ton of points tomorrow but I do see him with a lot of assists feeding James and Thomas. Thomas in particular will really be on a rampage as every game could be his last.

What a great guy, Thomas has turned out to be.
Remember when Coach Whitesell left Carter bolted to St. Louis and Thomas followed Porter to Loyola.
So how did that turn out?
What became of Carter anyway. Can anyone help on that?

Reminds me of years ago when we had the Jeff Jordan charade. We didn't get Jordan but we got some kid named Geoff McCammon.
So how did that turn out?
And what became of Jeff? Any help on that?
