JCT
I realize that he just left which stinks, but I have a different take on him than you do.
He was at LU for 10 years and by any standard wildly successful. His success may never be matched. He should be recognized for his accomplishments.
He is not perfect. Never thought he was. He was the best that we ever had. You have followed him more closely than I have, but I don't think you can judge him by what he did 20 years ago or whether he won a close game or a blow out. He evolved. The game has evolved. He is not the same coach he was 20, 10, 5, or last year. 40% of Division I basketball players transfer - at least that was what the statistic was - some of the players he recruited left for a variety of reasons and we were the benefactors of the system that brought us Custer, Tate, Clemons, etc. It's the system.
I think he left because of the system. I think he realized that this last season was in many ways - perfect. The team was nationally recognized, etc.
The bottomline is that the P5 is never going to let us in the game. He realized it and figured he does not need to be perfect at Oklahoma to get a chance to win a national championship.
He also realized that the Gonzaga model is a unicorn - an unattainable standard.
