Thanks for the kind words, Sycamore Fan.

Some programs turn their nose up or refuse CIT/CBI bids on financial or other grounds. UNI did it last year before the conference tournament (I think as a motivator-- they only had one senior I believe), So not every eligible or likely CIT/CBI team will be there. I think the fields of each tournament vary from year to year-- sometimes the CIT is stronger, sometimes the CBI. The CBI field usually has a few stronger confererence teams, sometimes even teams that are at or below .500. That may be where Northwestern goes, and they would be a likely matchup.

Don't think Northwestern can qualify for the CBI; not a .500 record. 15-16 & would have to win two in the Big 10 Tourney to qualify?

CBI had Texas (16-17) and Purdue (15-17) in 2013, and Penn State (15-17) in 2014.

So....

68 teams ---make the NCAA tournament
32 teams ---make the NIT tournament
16 teams ---make the CBI tournament
32 teams ---make the CIT tournament.

That's 148 teams who get spots in post-season play.

So with 19 wins and a conference semi final appearance in the valley, which could potentially be a 3 bid NCAA conference this year, is it fair to say the issue is not whether we get a spot, but whether our administration chooses to let us play?

Correct.

I'm thinking the AD is going to do everything in his power to get the Administration to pay to play. Then again, 30 grand is a lot of hamburgers for Kelly the Hutt.

Simply from a recruiting in standpoint you would think it's a no brainer. At the very least it removes the stigma of not playing in a post season tourney in 30 years.

CBi mainly plays on March 18th and we have a home VB game, not that it could not be played on the 17th. CIT mainly plays on the 17th. Either way if a home game it almost has to be March 17th

Porter, i his post-game Press conference, answered a question about pulling the three seniors aside in the locker room and talking to them. The question was something along the lines of, "what did you say to them?" he would not answer that specifically, saying that it was between him and his players, but said that he talked about the future and the next week, or something along those lines. Because he didn't say specifically, i wondered if he was saying to them something along the lines of the administration told him that this tournament would be it.... That is just me speculating though...

Would be EXTREMELY disappointed if the administration refused to fork over the 30k.

If we do not host a game, do we still have to pay a fee for being the visiting team?
