1. Porter does not want to leave. He loves Chicago and said at a recent alumni pregame event that it is a perfect fit for him.
He is a Chicagoan and his family loves being here. What he wants is security. At ISU I believe he had three ADs in four years.
Here he had Grace, then an interim for a long time and then finally Steve who is a great guy and a great fit for Loyola as well.
Steve thinks very highly of Porter and will go to bat for him. Tom Kelly is in his corner.
If Father G were here it would have been a done deal but we have had three Presidents during Porter's regime as well. First Father G who was a doer, second a long inter regnum which cost us Marlon Jones as a recruit and finally Dr. Rooney who is just settling in.
2. Dr. Rooney said at a Loyola B school event that she was committed to raising money. The average Quinlan alum gives $6700 per year. She wants to raise that. If we begin to fill the arena I think she will see that the athletic department can be a key to unlock donations just like it did at DePaul.
3. I agree with JC1964. Porter is the best coach at Loyola since Sullivan. I would say even better as he has had to face academic restrictions that Sully did not (and he eventually paid a price when 7 flunked out at midterm).
Having Loyola tied with Harvard for number one in the country for graduation is a real feather in his cap.
4. Alums should make their voices heard especially with Tom Kelly and also with Dr.Rooney.
Porter deserves an extension and its time for alums to make that known.
5. As for an NIT bid I think that will not happen. Had we beaten NC State and Northern Iowa it would have been likely.
I think our best shot is to get the third seed and then win the Archmadness tourney. That is imminently doable.
I think the bench is coming along and I think if Kirby can continue to improve that is a real possibility.

How is there any room for Porter to be there as well?
