Here's Nick's story on the game:

it sounds like everything went the way it was supposed to for the first time out. The only thing I am interested in that hasn't been mentioned is how Skokna did? He provided us some valuable minutes off the bench last year, and I'm hoping he's able to do the same this year.

Happy to hear about Kaifus. It seems like he's going to provide a bit of a spark off the bench this year.

I cannot wait for the regular season to start. Do we know if there's going to be any banner raising ceremony at pre-game of the home opener?

My sectionmates & I had the same question about a banner raising. Looking around Gentile there are only banner for national titles so we were wondering if they would change that for the final four?

I thought Bruno forced some stuff on offense early but settled in. He didnt play many minutes with any of the veterans, but instead played mostly with Negron/Kaifes/Bujdoso/Lucas. I wonder what that means for his rotation spot. He was the first guy off the bench to start the game though.

I think the only reason the National Championship banners are the only ones is because that's all we've ever won.... haha. Is there nothing in Gentile recognizing the CBI Championship? I guess I never even thought about that.

Seems like they would need to hang something in the arena for our final four Appearance / Regional Title -- especially for recruiting purposes.

This announcer was not bad. He did a great job, and he's a pro. But Pat Schultz is the Vin Scully of Loyola Sports.

I agree. Just stirring the pot.

As for the game reports, I am in agreement with most of the posts here. We have a really strong freshman class. Frank, Isaiah, and Kaifes all have developed bodies and they know how to use them. I was impressed with all of them, and I thought Frank especially looked really quick. He got out of position a couple times but was often able to zip back and be on his man. The possession at the end of the half when Isaiah seemed to never get a play going was kind of painful, but it looked like Porter straightened him out. Overall, I felt that they looked farther along than our freshmen normally do at this stage.

It will be interesting to watch Aher come along during the nonconference. Word is he improved his shot quite a bit over the summer, but it wasn't falling tonight. He still managed to put up some numbers and get to the free throw line.

Lucas has put on a lot of muscle.

Not a lot to say about Custer, Townes, and Krutwig. They are just really good.

On the ticketing site, it says, "2018 NCAA Final Four Banner Ceremony" with the game info.

That's what I heard too. Good news.

Somebody told me Andy Mazur was the P.A. guy last night.

Edit: Andy Masur

On the ticket website, under the UMKC game, it says "2018 NCAA Final Four Banner Ceremony" so they will be doing something.

Hope we get a great crowd out there...lower bowl looks sold out but a few hundred seats in the upper ring.

Attendance was listed as 2800+. For an exhibition game against a DII opponent weeks before the season officially starts, that’s a good sign. Some years those games wouldn’t draw 280.

There were far fewer/less (take your pick) than 2800 asses in seats. I'd guess 1500. They must have included season ticket no-shows in the announced attendance total.
