It is amazing that we are playing so well at this point in the season. We have held our opponent under 60 points in 12 of our last 13 games! Our defense is smothering. Porter has everyone playing their roles and working together perfectly. But-for the Covid situation that set us back a couple of weeks, this team could very well be undefeated. I’ve watched a ton of basketball games this year and I legitimately think that, at this point, we could hang with everyone but Gonzaga and Baylor.
The guy I have been most impressed with over this stretch other than Krutwig? UGUAK. Something clicked for him when we started conference play and he’s been huge He’s getting rebounds, playing tough defense, and he’s managing to score when needed. He’s also hitting free throws!
Everything that seemed to stop us from being a great team as opposed to a good team last year (three point shooting and free throws) seems to be corrected!
I also loved what we did to Prim last night. We rattled him big time. Also, on his fifth foul I had no idea what the commentators were talking about. He obviously hooked Norris then fell to the ground when the whistle blew.
I know people are high on Drake right now, and they are good, but I think we are going to cause a lot of problems, but if our offense is clicking, we should win. Drake has not seen been tested against a defense like ours. I know we’ve got 2 games against Evansville, but It’s tough not to get excited about the 13th!
I think it's good our games against Drake were postponed. Having both of them near the end of the season means we can both beat up on the rest of the valley and build a resume before we have to play each other. Drake is considered 80% in by Lunardi. Hard to see that being the case if we play in mid January and beat them twice. Losses to them will also not look as bad as well.
