Akron, yikes! Akron is the enemy--Kent is the peaceful college town 10 miles east. I stay away from Akron. I don't live in that part of the state any more, anyway. I get back a couple of times a year...

I'm in Chicago more than there, actually. I hope to get to some games at Loyola sometime when the schedule lets me. Looks like a great facility. I thought it looked cool when Kent St. played there last year in the BracketBuster.

The MVC is a great conference, and I think it may be just what you guys needed to get the program going again. Recruits will know they can get a lot more high profile games there than in the Horizon.

To show you how old I am, I was a U-Cin. fan as a kid growing up in the Cincy area, and remember listening with my dad to that championship game as a very young kid between UC and Loyola. Broke my heart! And now here I am, 50 years later, climbing on the bandwagon!

Some of us in the student section were getting on the coach but a lot of the people were not joining in. Is there any specific chants anyone people want started I can try to get it started.

Michigan State has a really good student section.

Probably the best and easiest thing to do is to make noise when the other team has the ball. A simple, continuous "Ohhhhhhhhhhhh!!!" will do. Once a small group starts, others will join in.

The one thing I DON'T like is the "LUC" chant. In my eyes, we are LU. LUC works when there are opposing fans chanting (see SIU game) but I would use it very sparingly.

When I was a student, we were able to pull that off with each side of the gym. There were a couple of years there with decent student sections behind each basket (remember that game against Purdue?). There was an unofficial Rowdie leader on each side guiding the chants.

I'd love to return to those days where there were enough students active on each side. Not for the product on the floor...just for the student involvement. I think you can credit Shay for a lot of that. He worked tirelessly to set up the Rowdies.

Fingers - when the other teams shot clock is winding down, at 5 start a countdown from 8 or 9. You'll love it when they buzzer goes off and they still think they have 3 seconds...
