That is why I said whoever's job it is. It'll be somebody's job. And since I wouldn't be surprised if we don't have an AD named by the time the season starts, that might fall to somebody already in the department.

I saw that Loyola posted a "Ticket Manager" job opening on its website, but Nelson is still listed on the AD staff directory.

Too bad if he's left. He was a nice guy.

Yup, I am referring to Nelson. He's gone.

Yes, Nelson left last week for a great opportunity doing sales and marketing for a sports management company that puts on events like Maui and the State Farm event that had Kentucky, Michigan State, and Duke in Chicago last year.

He did a great job at Loyola transitioning to ticket sales for additional sports like soccer, running tickets for the volleyball national championships, and dealing with customers who were angry about the price increases. He also had to run the ticket office with high expectations and minimal staffing. Not easy to do. The next person in the job needs a lot more support to sell tickets at the level we all want.

Nelson is a Loyola alum and a fan, so I'm hoping to see him join Ramblermania sometime soon!

Question - am I off, or did we used to have a lot more Saturday home games? I see 4 this year. My memory could be off, but I recall that we used to play a lot of Saturday afternoons. As a player and a fan, I thought these were the best games. It's easy for player families to make it in. As a fan, one can kind of plan a day around the afternoon up at campus.

I'm guessing that the move to the MVC changed things. There were more Sunday games last year. It's a bummer that we are losing those games as they are much easier for me too. Oh well.

My guess on all the Wednesday/Sunday games is that it's done for TV, because there's less competition against other league schedules on those dates. The Big 12, Big 10, and A-10 play mostly Tue./Wed. and Saturday games. Big East doesn't have their conference schedule out yet.
