I really thought Porter was right getting Cooper out of there very quickly. I intently watched him in the little time he was in. Def. a little overmatched. Obviously, if we knew we were going to lose at nearly the buzzer, he would've been in to hit a 3 or two, but overall he isn't ready to flow into either side of the ball quite yet. Looked a little unsure.

Monday (saturday) mourning (intentional) quarterbacking....I thought during the summer that we should have gotten a grad transfer of jc guard to spell CC and give the freshman pg time to settle in.....the reality is that this is a pair of pants with some threads loose...and too much pressure on those loose threads and we are walking around in our boxers....PM has just got to piece by piece continue to get the newcomers playing and believing ,,,,,,hard to do with such expectations. We dont have a staircase to the second floor...we got a ladder blowing in the wind...doesnt mean we cant climb in that second story window...but need to do it piece by piece....getting the stadium full gives us a pretty good base....getting good recruits helps....I remember when we PM was new, I was impressed in how patient he was and what a good teacher he was. Hope he keeps that up with this group. I think we will see more of Skokna and Negron.

Thoughts on last night....
Looking at the stats and not getting too critical of any given player, and not getting overly analytical about our roster, the freshmen, etc.,
reality is: Make half of the free throws we missed and we have five more points.
Don't foul the three point shooters and Furman has six fewer points
Thats it in a nutshell. Yes, I hope to see progress with newbies. It seems Porter is giving Aguak a long leash, so he must see
something in this young man. I trust the coach's judgement and we need to be patient and supportive, not so negative.
I do wonder if we will ever have a rotation with two big men on the floor?
Did anyone think this would be EZ?
No one is going undefeated this season...
Watched that last Furman bucket over and over on ESPN..... They made a good play, but it should not have been that close.
Go Ramblers...

Glad someone mentioned Skokna. IMO he is the player who gets the most out of his talent on the entire team. Don't get me wrong...I'm not suggesting he is as good as Custer, Townes, Krutwig, Williamson, etc. but his minutes are really, really good on both sides. As they say, he has a very high basketball IQ.

I hear everything that is being said about freshman, free throws, but my main concern is 2 games of Custer's turnovers and Krutwigs defense. When Custer is good he is the best he's fantastic, but he is way too careless for a guy who should play smarter. Krutwig needs a lot of work on D which should be teachable since his footwork is so good on OFF.

Good points here, I think. The half court offense wasn't clicking last night for many reasons that have been pointed out here. Hopefully we get that sorted out soon.

I thought we played good defense. If we had shot it a little better or made a couple more free throws, it's a win, and our perspective is a lot different.

That’s a valid point on perspective. Also remember that we weren’t exactly setting the world on fire at the start of last year either. Wright State, UMKC, and even Mississippi Valley State were a lot closer than they should’ve been. For me at least, it wasn’t until the UIC game that I saw this team show signs of what they could be. I think things will sort themselves out...I just hope we don’t rack up too many losses in the meantime and completely kill the momentum we brought into this year.

My last thought is to see how Furman plays out against Villanova, will be interesting to see that game.
I'm putting Furman away, on to Niagara

The defensive breakdown at the end was inexcusable. When Mounce took his first step toward the basket I realized that he had a totally clear path. But before that, how did we let them tie the game in the closing minute or two? Really, really bad close-out.

True. I don't think we needed to double team Rafferty at the three point line. Furman also made a shot clock beating three (did that bank in?) and a guy just walked up to the arc and stuck one.

By the way, through two games Kaifes is 5/8 from three. Rest of team is 6/34 (18%).
