Porter's style, system, strategy, are based on tight defense and offensive efficiency. A missed dunk is 0 for 1. That's not very efficient.

There is more to it than just a missed shot. Porter' reaction was purely visceral; logic doesn't explain the explosive intensity of it. I'm going to keep an eye on Porter to see how he reacts to a missed conventional layup or bunny. That will be revealing.

Besides my Vertical Inadequacy hypothesis, my other theory is that Porter equates some dunks with showboating, and Porter is all about unselfish team play. I didn't think Lucas' missed dunk was anything like showboating. He had a clear lane to the basket but a defender was close behind. Lucas tried to dunk with his left (off) hand. Maybe that's what set Porter off. I don't know. But I think Porter overreacted big time.

Agree with you conclusion, there was something off and very visceral about it. He was super pissed. I was taken aback when I saw it. More than just a missed shot. I agree that he hates dunks because he's about the team and hates show boating. Mostly he hates missing the opportunity for two points. When Lucas was dribbling, approaching the basket, his timing was off to me anyways and I wasn't surprised he missed. Think the extra look over his shoulder at the sju defender threw him off.
