AP Top 25 tomorrow? If so that is huge. When was the last time that happened during the regular season?

1985. I'm sorry but you have to retake the JCT Preview Quiz.

Scream/JCT, was Loyola ranked during the regular season of 84-85? Or was the March ranking the first ranking and was it during the post season?

Loyola was ranked during the season, and got up to #14 in the final poll before the NCAA Tournament.

Pretty sure we were ranked in 1985....prior to the tournament/final poll.

We were ranked 20th on 2/26/85, 16th on 3/5/85, and 14th in the season final poll on 3/12/85. It was only a Top 20 poll in those days, and it came out on Tuesdays before the internet and fax machines.

Let’s not forget the nation’s longest winning streak going into the tournament

This year’s team has been a real pleasure to watch. Trying to enjoy it as much as possible

I was pretty sure I used a fax machine in the late 70s or very early 80s, so I looked it up:

I remember thinking what a technological miracle it was at the time. I also remember how impressed I was with digital calculators a few years earlier.

Thoughts on the game:

1. was is the officiating slanted in Loyola favor this weekend and I’m just too big of a fan to realize it? I was looking at the Evansville message board and I felt like they were watching completely different games than I was! I understand there was a foul discrepancy, but that’s going to happen when your offense is predicated on not putting the ball inside, winding the shot clock down to 27, and shooting a jump shot! The only blatant call I thought we got away with this weekend was a Hebb travel in the lane.

2. I agree with the Evansville fans on the commentating. There’s a basketball game going on — we don’t need 8 minutes on mustaches, hairlines (which I thought was weird and inappropriate), and what the color guy is going to wear during the super bowl. I don’t blame Jordan Bernfield on this, by the way.

3. I know the game was closer than we would have liked, but does anyone think that’s because Porter is just prepping the whole team? It seemed like, if we wanted, we could have just went down low to krutwig whenever we wanted to score, fouled out their front court, and just rode Krut to a 15+ point win if we wanted.

With our loss to Indiana State and Drake’s loss to Valpo, how does the regular season title play out if we split with Drake and both teams win out? We both would be 16-2 (tied), the head-to head would be tied, Drake would have one less loss than us but we would have the higher NET ranking. Of the teams we both lost to, it’s likely Indiana state will finish better than Valpo. Who gets the 1-seed?

There has to be some type of news on Kennedy by now! Anyone?????

This season has made me appreciate the Valley..and this series made me appreciate the Valley..it is a coaches league, a developmental league...and I have come to appreciate that...We dont get a lot of 4 and 5 star recruits coming in....so Coaches have to coach and they have to develop players....Other than Ford at MSU I think there are some darn good coaches in the Valley....and I think we have the best....
Marquise has a tweaked hammy and they are touchy.....but if you full out tear it. you really have issues...
So really curious that Wojik and Kaifes got so little time unless Coach is getting the 8 ready for big minutes against Drake.
Our offense is turning into a late night show.....the Host (Krut) and a guest star.
Thought Evansville was just a good center away from being a legit team.
as for those Evansville fans...LU almost always win the foul battle because they play great defense....they do a tremendous job of showing their hands and not reaching for the ball but mirroring the ball and grab those passes. I actually thought their coach did a good job of getting the ref to call fouls on us....

1. Overall I thought the officials were okay. Evansville didn't earn many fouls, IMO, but on the other hand we got some pretty generous and-1 calls yesterday. The kind of bumps that are usually called, but are touchy.

2. 100% agree with you on JD. I was thinking Saturday that he hardly ever talks about the game.

3. I think that Porter wanted to beat them by 30 but we kept turning the ball over.

[ ] The Valley put out a revised tiebreaker plan here. Basically it depends on how many total games are played, but the first tiebreaker is head to head, second is record against common opponents, third is record against highest seeded common opponent, so if we split with Drake and tied in the standings, our records against the team that finishes third would be the tiebreaker (meaning our loss against Indiana State could be the decider -- which seems a bit backwards to me if I'm reading it right). After that comes NET.
