Negron is still waiting for the ankle to get to 100% Heard it is almost there.......He did get a minute or two at the the end of the game telling me he is close but do not know whose minutes he would take. Cam just can not seem to get out of his own way plus as good an athlete as he is, it seems hard to find a real role in Porters system to match his set of skills. As for Avery he comes in as a new guy , who was THEEE man in JC,,,,hurts his shoulder I believe..just really has him behind the 8-ball. I will say for me anyway I would like Coach to handle his exasperation with Cam a little better.....His public actions to Cams mistakes do not make it any easier for Cam to grow.... I just hope that Coach takes care of these issues SOOOOn..as I would hate to see them affect what is turning into a really good season. Plus I do not want this to be the focus of the season any longer.
There was definitely one moment today where everyone in earshot heard Porter nearly jump out of his suit (sorry, PortersJacket). But then soon after he was talking with Cam on the bench in a much calmer manner. I don’t know, and won’t pretend to know, all the background, but it just feels like Porter knows what a talent the kid has, and when he goes off script the frustration builds. But it’s workable if they’re both willing. Cam was one of the first off the bench today when needed, so I see the recognition of potential there.
As someone said earlier, it was mentioned today that Negron may still be working his way back/catching up from early injuries. I will say one thing that impressed me a ton was late in the game, Negron was half a step ahead of everyone, could’ve forced the issue and tried to make a big statement play...or a play that could’ve caused a turnover...but with less than a minute left decided to hold it and kick the ball out to slow it down. Smart play over highlight reel. Team play.
