Hey JCT,
You may be "OK with everything as it happened," but I'm not. And I hope the team and coaches are not OK with it either. When a team misses so many close in shots, shoots 36% from the floor and 67% from the free throw line, and throws the ball away on a number of fast break attempts, there is little to be OK with. The Ramblers look more like the team that lost to Coppin State than the team that beat Indiana State last week. In other words, todays game was a big step backwards.

The team that lost to Coppin State showed no ability to mount a comeback. Today we overcame an 11 point deficit on the road to force overtime (against a team that's in the hunt for an at-large bid). Would have been a huge win. I didn't really see anything that reminded me of Coppin State. No need to overreact.

Agreed. If the team that played Coppin State showed up today in Cedar Falls, UNI would have won by 20+. Our defense was fantastic--basically shut down the league's leading scorer, forced turnovers, held another team to under 60 (in regulation). We missed some close range shots, sure. But overall, the ball movement was solid. Hall had a pretty lousy game overall, but stepped up for the two huge free throws. Lucas has probably his best offensive showing of the year--all while locking down Green.

Need to learn from this and move on quickly...because it is off to Carbondale who is also undefeated at home (with a win over UNI...).

Yes our defense was great, holding UNI to fewer than 60 points in regulation. But our offense was certainly lacking, scoring fewer than 60 points in regulation. One more made free throw or layup might have resulted in a win in regulation.

This is true. It was frustrating. Our three point shooting kept us in the game.

This is why so many people who run message boards end up flipping out and losing their minds, abandoning the process to ever-less-engaged people, people who are in it for the wrong reasons, or profiteers. The guy from Evansville just threw in the towel, and it's completely 110% understandable to me. This is my second go-round at this, and the first time around I could only last about 7 years.

I have been trying hard to reduce my opinions on this site, because they're no better or insightful than a lot of other comments, and I risk getting a hard-hitting personal attack when I'm not in a great mind-frame to handle a personal attack. Like when I had to miss a game a couple weeks ago because I unexpectedly put out $1100 for a radiator. Or when I got chewed out by the head of another department late on Friday afternoon and I felt like shit all weekend, but I have to come home and write the preview for the UNI game on the web site and then get shit about my individual and honest opinion about the opposition, and then get crap about my opinion of the game.

And after spending most of the weekend mostly holed up in a room because I felt bad about work issues, I write a few things on the site and somebody splatters back some message board acid in my face for saying our loss was not as horrible as it looks.

Whatever, man. What the fuck ever. Damn.

Oddly, it's the same thing in politics. Maybe that's why I was attacked for giving my honest opinion, a lot like politics now.

You were spot on with your analysis. On paper, that was the toughest game of the conference season. And we fought back after being down double digits in the 2nd half and took it to OT.

We are tied for first about halfway through the conference season. The schedule undoubtedly gets tougher here on out (per KenPom, we have had the easiest SoS among MVC teams thus far in conference play). But I think our guys showed they are up for it today.

Hey JCT,
If you are referring to my post, it was not meant as a personal attack on you. I was simply offering my opinion based on the statistics, result and what I observed while watching the game.

Fine, JC64, I have had dinner with you many times and I know it's not a personal attack. The wording just struck me wrong at a vulnerable time for me.

JCT, Have a couple of beers and relax. I'm going to sip a few St Pauli Girls before bed. I'll probably need them to get to sleep.

JCT.....1. Love this message board you have put together....love being able to share various opinions and emotions about the Ramblers....but you are correct our emotions and personal lives will leak into commentary every once in awhile....but I also participate a lot on the NU football board and that is just middle school, mean girls, name calling...etc....the ignored button may be the most used function. You have done a great job of keeping a pretty good civil atmosphere for us to discuss and share thoughts on the Ramblers. I do not follow some of the other boards like some do but I am guessing this is at the top.
2. We probably dont spend enough time reflecting on what it takes to start and maintain a board like this, and we probably at the minimum owe you a beer.....
3. radiators suck....
4. It is so easy on social media to lay into people with out thought of consequences....that it is cool that people on this board remain civil....cept for Brot yelling at the Tribune.
now back to our previous recorded programming.
5. Just worried that we threw all our chips into this game.Would like to have seen more time and impact from the bench....I know analytically there was a lot going on in that game in terms of win or lose......but that depends on if everything else turns out the way they predict which as we know never happens.....going down to SIU for back to back road games following that loss will really test a young team....The Valley season is one long, tense drama (cept last year :)
