I'd bump Uguak up to a B-/B. Played some tough defense when he was assigned to Laravia. Hit a 3 and had a couple nice post moves.

Would also give Clemons a B.

Back-to-back "D" games for Hall. That's rough. He has looked...well...not so good against any quality competition:

-UIC: 24 minutes, 1 point, 3 rebounds
-Wisconsin: 25 minutes, 5 points, 5 rebounds
-Richmond: 31 minutes, 12 points, 3 rebounds
-ISUr: 17 minutes, 2 points, 4 rebounds
-ISUr: 29 minutes, 16 points, 5 rebounds
-UNT: 20 minutes, 5 points, 0 rebounds
-ISUb: 30 minutes, 4 points, 6 rebounds
-ISUb: 24 minutes, 6 points, 5 rebounds

Keys goes from 31 points to 7 from 14 free throws to 2...from 12 shots to 7.
Uguak in 17 minutes is 3/4 field goals 2/2 free throws.......1 assist 1 turnover 3 rebounds.

so who guarded Keys tonight?

ISUb goes from shooting 44% to 35%

Nice win after a bad loss-- our Defense was superb Was truly the difference Porter must be pleased

On another note DePewl loses at home--The Trib will write them up--not us I wager

Much needed win! Took us awhile to get going, but late in the first half we finally started playing basketball.

Grades are a bit tough in a few spots, IMO. Krutwig had 16 and 8 after playing his worst game of the year the day before. Lucas was in Key's shorts all night. (Key had 7 points, and 3 of them came when Coop left him wide open.) Uguak played through foul trouble and scored 9 big points.

You forgot Clemons, who kept us in the game in the first half. Will be interesting to see how minutes are split between Clemons and Norris going forward. Norris was fine in the first blowout vs Illinois State, but other than that, he hasn't had a real productive game since the second half vs. Richmond. He's 7 of 23 from three since then. He hasn't shot a free throw since Dec 5.

Pretty funny I forgot Keith, as I said earlier he’s one of my favorites. I’ll blame it on the first half frustration beers.

I was probably overly critical on Lucas/Aher, they did a great job defensively. My general takeaway, we should be able to D up every team in the Valley. And have a variety of guys that can get it done on offense, it’s just a matter of finding the hot hand.

Looking back, super impressed with the minutes Baylor got. He definitely got pushed around a little, but thought he did pretty well for himself. Shows a lot that he’s already above Pax, and pretty close with Coop if Porter was comfortable rolling him out there.

Williamson was outstanding. I gave him an A- and Uguak a B-.
Hall looks lost but he will come around. I was glad that Hebb got some time.
I wish Wojcik would get an opportunity.

We've been saying Hall will come around for a while now. I think it is time to really cut his minutes. Too much talent on the bench to continue to run him out there to put up 5 points in 30 minutes and get beat defensively over and over again (and miss FTs). Not to mention, we are in the thick of conference play--not the time to have patience with guys struggling.

To the legion of Swellafelon fans disappointed I didn't rise to JCT's challenge of writing a game preview, I would like you to know that I actually did write one but decided not to post it for fear of further offending JCT.

It was entirely in verse (Talk about showing off creative writing skills!). I managed even to find a rhyme for "inaugural ", i.e. "doggeral"., and it contained these immortal lines:

And if Covid should smite us
Or B Hepatitis
We'll spread it gladly
To Drake or Bradley.
You cancel on us
You're gonna get pussed.

I agree, we’re 11 games deep. He hasn’t come around yet and we have multiple people who are capable of stepping up in his place. Strictly from what we’re seeing during games, he doesn’t deserve the minutes he’s getting. Porter’s job is to give the team the best chance they have at winning, I really liked what I saw out of his substitutions in the recent game compared to the first ISU game. It’s almost like he listened to all of our bitching haha. It was great seeing Welch get some minutes while Krutwig was in, it was also nice seeing Hebb get in there for a little bit. I ‘m hoping the younger guys on the team are buying into the culture enough to stick around even though they may not be getting as much play time as they’d like right now. At the same time, they kind of had to expect this with our depth.
