His instructions were simple. Increase revenue period.
I'll quote Tom Kelly "This job is about revenue, revenue, revenue."
What does that mean is anybody's guess because I'm sure he doesn't really know.

All this will change if the Board of Trustees has the foresight to go outside the university for a new president.

Does anyone know why Adgei isn't playing? Is he hurt?

LU you seem to have some strong opinions about Kelly...you also imply that he holds most of the real power. I have no idea but do you know this to be true? If so what else can you tell us about this gate keeper?
thanks

KInd of depends. What do you think is instructions were? Do you think they told him to increase attendance or else? IT certainly would seem that alums are not putting pressure on....Is this the same old make sure you have a team and that they dont get in trouble? or do you think he was really given goals to achieve that would make him feel nervous about our performance? Cuz if he looks at the crowd he certainly can feel as comfortable as Loyal Park and come in and comfortably drink his coffee because no one is watching

I was basing my opinion solely on the fact that in May, Watson had overseen a CBI championship in men's basketball and a National Championship in volleyball. 6 months later, the b-ball team started a 3-6 swan-dive in a cupcake tournament in Alaska that barely made national TV and lost his 2 time National Champion volleyball coach (although this is said with no offense to Hulse, who I think will do a great job).

Athletics reports directly to him. So he holds the keys. I've always been of the opinion that because athletics doesn't report directly to the President it has been a structural defect and a main reason we haven't been successful. Athletics used to report to student activities but after the last AD that changed. None of this is inside information but easily ascertained from the university organizational chart. There might be an athletic department that reports to a SVP of Adminstrative Services but I don't know of one. I have given a lot time, talent and treasure to Athletics and I believe it deserves the best of everything. I don't want to see a new president come in, look at everything and decide it isn't worth the bother, ending it altogether. That is why I'm upset at the whole situation.

Got back from Terre Haute. Gosh that drive up 41 is really boring. A real ghost road from Terre Haute to about 75 miles north. Just nothing there.
The loss made the ride even longer. Saw the game up close in the first row behind the bench. The Hulman Center is very large and with the students away the arena swallowed up the small crowd.
We played a good first half with a comeback to take the lead at half. Now if you figure that Turk and Doyle had zero points you would have thought the odds of an even better second half were good. But it was not to be.
Montel missing that dunk was very deflating and then in the second half when we are clawing back we miss back to back one and ones.
The Sycamores used number 30 early in the second half and his three pointer got them rolling. Then number 41 a freshman and 6'9" made some nice plays for points down low.
The Sycamores missed their first free throw and then hit twenty, yes twenty in a row. They finished 22 for 25 for the game. That was a back breaker because we were in foul trouble early in the second half.
Cal Kennedy's parents were there. While I was glad to see Cal get some minutes, I wondered why Adegi did not see any action.
But as someone told me on Friday night at the hotel, sometimes there are things for privacy reasons that cannot be disclosed. Not sure if that was meant to mask anything specific or not.
What are the odds of Doyle going scoreless and fouling out? Really shocking. He had two shots from close in but they both fell short. Made me wonder if he is really healthy. Could his shoulder be an issue and he is not telling anyone? I tell you this, he is a very nice kid and I highly doubt that it is attitude. I watched him while he sat on the bench about half way through the second half. He did not converse with anyone and looked really depressed. Just a guess, but I think it is a health issue because right now he is really making no contribution. And again that is just conjecture on my part.
Down two in the conference really makes my rosy projections look stupid but hey, I am no expert and that is why they play the games.
ISU in Bloomington will be a real challenge.
I have seen some really bad Loyola basketball over the years. This was bad but no where near as bad as it has been in the past.

hard to swallow...........but living on your laurels of the previous season doesn't get it done. You have over-estimated your talent. You are not the better team!

Hey remember when we lost to Indiana State in the regular season but then pummeled them so bad at arch madness that we had to let off the gas and it was still the largest margin of victory in the tournament? It almost looked like we were playing a high school team that day. At least we didn't lose to them today as bad as they lost to us. That would have been REALLY embarrassing!

"ABSOLUTELY"..exactly my point. That game was history; different team, different place. What have you done for me lately?
