The regular signing period is April 13 to May 18-- that is the Division I deadline. There is no deadline for Division II athletes sign LOIs; after the deadline there's a different standard, I believe. Here's a disturbingly odd video:

It's more common now for players to announce ahead of time (with great manufactured drama) that they're going to sign with a particular school. With many schools vying for Chastain, I would kind of expect that he gives them all some notice. Most of the schools that have offered Chastain have issued more offers than they have available scholarships-- most of them even have offers out to multiple players at the same position.

Treyvon Andres has announced he will sign, so it is known he is going to Loyola, but it's not official until the signing period. Cameron Satterwhite and Bruno Skokna have already signed their LOIs in the early signing period in October.

Purdue showing interest in Chastain according to a tweet.

Interesting article: "It's OK to be the only team with interest"

This article basically says he's playing at Utah. A mistake, or a clue?

Is Matt Chastain mormon? That would make sense with the Utah and Utah State offers.

JCT- Apparently that is not accurate; he hasn't committed to Utah according to someone from Rivals.

Purdue is also apparently showing interest; and would be the favorites to sign him. According to some tweets he comes from a Purdue family. Stinks. Wish we could have snagged him up in the during the first signing period.

This thread went from "i don't know if he's a good fit for us" to "WE NEED THIS KID" real quick.

Purdue has 3 spots open for next year with 2 outstanding offers (not including Matt).

Matt would be their only offer at SF but he would be in a bit of a logjam at that position. Just going by numbers, he'd be the 3rd SF. Including centers and power forwards, he would be #5 or #6 (depending on if their PF recruit signs.

I know it's not a good indication of things, but I hope that Porter is in his ear about playing time.

If Chastian is Mormon, and Utah wants him, then it's a good bet. The Mormon "church" is powerful and has influence.
