1. How do we give up 70 to a team like this?
2. How do we only score 35 points in a game?
3. How do we only score 11 points in a half?
4. How do we let a team score literally double?
5. We still have 3 returning starters from the final four team, and this is the best we can do?

Non-con games - growing pains, but you could see the team working and not giving up.

Evansville - it was disappointing to see us give up in the second half.

Missouri State - this one is a black eye on this years team. Part of Loyola getting to the next level is never having games like this one. I hate to say it because I love Porter, but it really seems like either 1) he overlooked this game and wasn’t prepared, or 2) he let the team overlook this one and didn’t prepare them.

I put some blame on Custer too. 1-7 and zero assists. With his talent, for him to be that bad out there ... I find it hard to buy he played his hardest and they just kept him in check. I hope he finds the drive he had to win last year. Other than the first Indiana State game, he’s been pretty lackluster in conference play.

The magnificence of last season was what it was. Part of a blockchain. Frozen in amber. History.

This year, we're the top dog and prime target of every team on our schedule with the possible exception of Boston College and Maryland (or Furman... they also played and beat Villanova). Some teams are going to put up a fight (Illinois State, Evansville, Valpo, Drake in the first half), and other teams are going to lay down and assume we're too much for them (Indiana State at Loyola, Drake in the second half).

Still, there's no excuse to lose to Missouri State by 35. There's no excuse for setting a record for fewest rebounds in a game this season. There's no excuse for having only three players having scored a field goal in the first 32 minutes of the game. It's the 2nd straight mid-week conference road game where we've been BLOWN OUT by one of the worst teams in the league.

I know that there's been some talk of pride and building a program for the long haul in the Wall of Culture and Moser's motivational talks to the team. It seems like it might be a really good time to remind these guys of those things..... I hope those conversations are happening on their charter flight back to Chicago.

Back-to-back 3 point games from our senior captain and reigning conference player of the year.

This game had us drop from the mid-80s in KenPom to 129.

Mo. State's top 5 scorers were all transfers. Their true freshmen played a total of 2 minutes.

Not having Williamson hurt. Getting pounded on the boards & our opponent giving more time to their big men is nothing new.

We don't have to worry about our ranking, winning the MVC tournament is the only path to the NCAAs for any MVC team. Every MVC road team lost tonight.

What bothered me most about this game was the difficulty our first year players are having. The regular season is nearly two thirds completed. The three freshmen played a total of 60 minutes. They combined for zero points and eight turnovers.

Not too surprising. That had to be one of the 5 or 10 worst games anybody has played all year.

Without saying I saw a blowout coming, the signs were there for a loss. Missouri State seemed bigger than us all around the court, and they played aggressive defense. We have to figure out a way to score when that happens. Last year, Custer was able to knock down a lot of shots when we needed them to keep games moving

Our rebound total (9) was the lowest by ANY team since 1997 when Air Force also had 9 rebounds. Maybe Coach should have considered trying Negron out there wither one of Frank/Krut.

Disappointing loss, but a loss is a loss. We are still at the top of the conference.

Give credit to Mo St. They were ready and were on fire. We don't do offensive boards and we can't get defensive boards when everything they put up goes in. Every ball that didn't go in - bounced to one of their players. It was crazy.

The Williamson injury is a problem. Williamson is our best player. When he is out, we don't have an all-around player who can make a stop, get a steal, make an assist, get a rebound or hit a three. Our Freshman are very good, but games like this make you realize they are only a few games into their careers. No one seemed ready to step up. I am concerned about the drop off between Custer, Townes, Krutwig, Williamson and the Freshman. Bruno, Negron and Uguak are not as reliable as I hoped and I have seen them play.

The CBS announcers are terrible.
