Really says a lot about home court advantage in the MVC.
We beat SIU by 16 at home and then lost at their place a few weeks later.
We beat ISUb by 20 at home and then got destroyed at their place a few weeks later.
ISUb now owns home wins over Drake, SIU, Bradley and Loyola, with UNI coming to town in a few weeks. They also lost by only 5 @ Dayton, who is a top 5 team in the country. I think they've shown that when their shots are falling (they are a top 10 three-point shooting team in the country), they can truly beat anyone. Their pace of play and ball movement is really impressive.
Here's another crazy thing about those games... neither team has lost since they played at Loyola. It's like we "activated" something in those two teams by beating them forcefully.
And one last thing... we went into the Indiana State game ranked #80 in KenPom, and Indiana State was #108. After the game, we're #97 and Indiana State is #92. We will probably go from being 2nd in the MVC in KenPom rating at the beginning of the day to 4th behind Indiana State and Bradley if the Braves win at Drake.
We need road wins. We need to beat UNI at home, and beat Evansville, Missouri State, and Bradley on the road. We need to regain the mentality we used to have to win on the road. I know that takes some maturity from your floor leaders, and a lot of floor leadership in general. But we simply can't go into games like today so ill-prepared, clueless, and on our heels. The teams that don't let that happen to them end up winning on Sunday in St. Louis.
