Thought it was an OK showing. Obviously a massive step-up in competition. Wisconsin will be right up there with Iowa/Illinois/MSU in the Big Ten and we hung tough with them for a good chunk of the game. Ultimately our scoring draughts sunk us (which included missed FTs and missed wide open 3 point attempts). Krut showed he can score against some of the top big men in the country. Lucas showed he is a leader and very well might be our #2 this year (think most of us thought that would be Hall...who has just been incredibly frustrating).
Build on it and get a quality win on Friday. Richmond is winnable and will look really good on our resume.
I expected it to be a 10-15 point game, so I'm not too disappointed. Wisconsin is really, really good. We'll get better, and hopefully by March, we're closer to that level. Lucas and Krut seem to be there already, but it's hard for me to pick on other guys too much because we don't know who has nagging injuries, who might be dealing with the post-COVID fog, etc. For whatever reason, Kennedy and Tate were just kind of non-factors last night. We're not going to beat a top 10 team without them contributing more.
I agree with everyone about Tom. He's been really strong offensively, and I would also like to see him playing with Krutwig. Seems like switching Aher and Tom would be a nice defense-office change up that we could go to. Granted, without Frank, it is harder to do that. The only time Krut can get rest is when Tom is on the court. So in that regard, I think Frank is an important piece for us. Especially in the back-to-backs we have coming up.
I thought Norris played too many minutes (something to watch are his turnovers), but we just weren't getting anything from guards other than Lucas. Have to think we'll figure out a better balance as we grow as a team.
We missed some shots, but I thought the untimely turnovers hurt us offensively as much as anything else. We beat them on the glass, but we lost the turnover and three point shooting battles badly. Defense started really strong, and then we left them too many open looks from deep that buried us.
