At this point I don’t think there’s any opportunity for an at-large bid with UNI’s 3 losses and us only having 2 “bad” games on our schedule. I think we would have to hope for a game against Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan State or Creighton - win - then have a 2 loss or better showing in conference play. I don’t see any of those teams having any incentive to play us.

With the schedule the way it is - I think our only chance at an at large is to win out and go undefeated in the regular season. If our only loss was at arch madness, Porter would then have to hit the media circuit and preach how good we are and how COVID screwed us out of a non-con schedule and it shouldn’t be held against us. That, combined with the media loving to talk about Sister Jean during the tournament might be enough for the committee to put us in.

This might be the first year in history that we are favored in EVERY game we play this season. We have the most talent, most experience, and most depth, by far, in the Valley.

Western Illinois has no games between Dec. 13 and Jan. 1.

Former UWM coach Rob Jeter is now head coach at Western Illinois.

Recruiting at Western il on the upswing with Nick Irvin as an assistant coach. 3 former Morgan Park players plus Ramean Hinton already on the roster.

I’m not complaining because I’m just excited to see them play anybody! This is fantastic!

With that being said though... this answered my Notre Dame question. ND totally could have played us and chose not to....

I think we would have had a chance to get Murray State, too, but Illinois State got them on the road for Saturday. Maybe we didn't want to travel given the Covid situation. Not sure if they'd want us to play them, but they seem to be more open to games against challenging opponents.

I've got some thoughts for the scheduling situation that I'll post pretty soon. Might involve some Twitter activism and sports talk radio calls...

Road Series:

@ Bradley
@ Drake
@ Missouri State
@ Indiana State

Home Series:

Illinois State
UNI
Evansville
SIU

H&H with Valpo. Interesting how they made those midweek games. Some big gaps in the schedule where we could theoretically play a non-conference game if we need one. (January 21-29, February 18-26).

Do you think they're for potential non-con games, or more of a safety net in case a team has to shut down and a series has to be rescheduled?
