Do you think they're for potential non-con games, or more of a safety net in case a team has to shut down and a series has to be rescheduled?

I don't know. Maybe both?

H&H with Valpo. Interesting how they made those midweek games. Some big gaps in the schedule where we could theoretically play a non-conference game if we need one. (January 21-29, February 18-26).

Anyone know what these schools are doing fan-wise? I think Missouri State is having fans this year, but I don't know about the other 4.

Also, IMHO we got a terrible draw solely because we have to play at Missouri State twice. Maybe we can make one of those games competitive this year...

Now that I look at it, this is going to be really tough. With AJ Green out, the next three best teams in the league could very well be Bradley, Drake, and Indiana State.... where we're going to be playing back to back road games.

Fortunately, without fans in the stands so far early in the season it looks like the home court advantage is a little less pronounced than usual. Also, we have a very deep team. We're certainly going to be tested.

Happy about the 4 year series with UIC. that’s a game that should be played every year.

I like the schedule for the most part.

ISU at home.
I think. - W,W
Too much fire power. I think we are a better team than Ohio State, and ISU got trounced by them. I predict a 10+ point win in Game 1 and a 15+ game in Game 2.

BRADLEY on the road
I think - L, W
Bradley will have gotten way more games in to gel as a team. I wish we didn’t have this series until late in the season if it was going to be on the road. This very well might be our first taste of “tough” competition and we may lose a close one in Game 1. We will wear them out in Game 2 and take win by 10+ in game 2.

DRAKE on the road
I think - W, W
Drake is well coached. They will see us run a good Bradley team ragged in Game 2 from the previous week, and strategize to beat our depth by slowing the game(s) down significantly. Loyola wins both games, but the final scores will have both teams in the 60s for both.

UNI at home
I think - W, W
Getting these games at home is key. Our games from last year were great... but with, or without Green, depth will prevail. Had it been a road series, I would have picked UNI to win Game 1, but with the travel inconvenience for them, I like us.

VALPO on the road.
I think - W
5 seniors still sore about Arch Madness. We added reinforcements; they lost their star. They won’t be able to keep up. blers by 10 on the road.

MISSOURI STATE on the road
I think - L, W
LOng distance to travel and a history of playing poorly there. By this point - we will look like the team to beat, and they will be ready for us. I see them being able to sneak a game 1 win in, but They’ll exhaust all their effort, and we take game 2.

EVANSVILLE
I think - W, W
they are bad. Real bad. Starters play first of half of both games, and no starters see second half minutes. Both will be 12-15 point wins, but only because they kept their starters in and played our second line the entire second half.

INDIANA STATE on the road
I think - W, W
ISUb gives us everything they’ve got in Game 1, it comes down to free throw shooting and we win by 5. Game 2 - we play well, and win by about 10.

VALPO at home
I think - W
Valpo is in for a frustrating season. They will try to win by chucking threes. It will fail. At this point, players will be frustrated with their losses and won’t be ready to come into Gentile. Loyola by 10+

SIU
I think - W, W
Good coaching will keep the games close. “Loyola Lite” will be on display, with a lot of passing and great defense. Mullins will try to slow us down. Both games will be won between 5 to 10 points.

FINAL RECORD
16-2. MVC regular season champs.

-90% confident we win ALL our HOME games
-90% confident we win ALL our “Game 2s”
-90% confident ANY loss we have will be by 7 points or less
-90% both Evansville games will be bloodbaths.

Games I’m most concerned about:
BRADLEY game 1
UNI game 1
SIU game 1.

This has been rumored for a few days, but this gives a potential location

That's great news. Duquesne has always been on my list for teams we should be playing in non-con. They've had a resurgence under Keith Dombrot (21 wins last year), they're sitting at #83 in KenPom, and the A10 looks to be a strong league this year.

If we get through the whole MVC schedule it will be a miracle
""In Missouri, Greene County officials recorded 51 COVID-19 deaths in the first eight days of December as hospitals overflow and hundreds of health care workers are quarantined. The area’s two major hospitals asked the city of Springfield, the county seat, to renew the city’s mask mandate before it expires in January. The county itself does not have a mask mandate, nor does the state.

As the deaths pile up, Springfield Mortuary Services owner Brian Simmons is overseeing the embalming and cremation of COVID-19 victims as his own 48-year-old daughter battles the virus. She spent the past week hospitalized on a ventilator in one of the city’s overwhelmed hospitals."

So the Duquesne in Indy is official. It will be next Wednesday at 1 PM. It's weird that it's a neutral field, yet SIU will be there two days prior to us. It's a shame they couldn't make a solid MTE there like they planned to with Cincinnati
