I'm already working on a shame campaign. We win a national championship in men's volleyball, and our home exhibition draws less than 400?

We have our best men's basketball start since Lyndon Johnson was President, and we can't fill the Joe against the #15 team and conference favorite?

Shame. Total shame.

I've seen humorous videos mocking Loyola sports in the past, but this is serious. If I had a place in the athletics administration, I'd have people in EVERY dorm talking about how easy it is to go to games and how important. I'd have student-athletes visiting classrooms and talking about the sacrifices they have to make to represent Loyola. The apathy makes me ill, especially after the progress in the past two years.

You know I thought the student section was solid. I think LU can do a little more marketing around campus and needs to do a lot more off campus. The amount of WSU fans at the game was embarrassing, compounded only by the fact that ESPN refused to show anyone not wearing Shocker gear on TV. But I'm glad our new AD is finally here and has a background in athletic marketing/business. He'll hopefully be able to steer the ship.

OH YEAH!!!

Still sucks that it wasn't a sellout. That's just ridiculous.

ESPN ?? Well, they ARE frontrunners--until certain Frontrunners start to fall--Then they will circle like vultures--as always.
The Shocker are good no question--They will represent our conference well in March--
Now then, The Valley has four excellent teams WSU, UNI, LUC, Evansville with maybe the Sycamores as a fifth. This will be a hot ride til March--I like our chances this year--and next year will be even better,

I worried that with all our good recruits, the other teams would keep pace--They have not , or we have pulled up to even this out.

A BIG win against the Dogs is needed.

Attendance ?? It is now up to the AD to remedy this--I believe he shall. The i-pod watching students will find out that LUC HOOPS and VB is FUN to watch and is a great lesson in LOYALTY >

They're not #15 by accident. They're a damn good, well-coached team. We knew that, so let's not get bummed out and keep our eyes on the prize.

Our goal this year is reaching the best postseason play we can get. We're still very healthy in the hunt for an NIT bid. No one thought it would even be possible at the tipoff of the first game. Focus game by game. We need to beat Drake next. It wouldn't hurt to beat them by 20, and get some banged-up players healthy.

It's our second year in this league. We've got crappy attendance. That place should have been full. We've got too many inexperienced players that we rely on, and we're going to get better as the year goes along. Stay with these guys...

This year we're going to bury the 30-year curse of no postseason play. Next season we begin as a top 4 team. The year after that, we're in contention for the top 3 in a two-bid or better league. Focus and build.

Definitely agree with you. WSU is a good team and they were really clicking in the second half. I am certainly dissapointed with the end result, especially since it was looking like we were going to be able to compete with them. After closing the half with a lead, I expected our guys to come out with a lot of energy and make some big plays, but our defense really collapsed after WSU went on their opening run. Nonethless, I really enjoyed the game! Some of you are disspointed that we didn't have a completely sold out crowd, but honestly, the atmosphere was still fantastic. Once we begin winning on a consistent basis, I am optimistic that we will be able to pack the Joe!

This team has already surpassed my expectations thus far. I'm genuinely excited about our future!

Go Ramblers!

As far as student attendance the student section was pretty packed & pretty loud. What kills us is every year there are 1-2 home games that can really appeal to the students (many of whom come from far away & have established CBB loyalties by the time they get to school) they go to the games and the team lays an egg. Now this game I dont think would fall into that category but the DePaul game from a few years back I think is a banner example of this.

During my time at Loyola the students showed up for K State, Butler and those games were great games (we almost won em to boot!) but the team was so irrelevant that outside of those opponents it was tough to get jazzed up about going to see them play. Im hoping as we become a player in the MVC this will change and there will be a desire to go to the games other than to see the opponent.

But grilling the students for today seems unfair, given that the student section were quite full/loud.

Not so fast.

My lawyers advise me that I have two meritorious legal defenses against paying off on the wager:

I) I am entitled to a recount to determine whether any tickets with hanging chads were counted as part of the attendance total. Under Bush v. Gore, 531 U.S. 98 (2000), and applicable Illinois election law, those should not be counted.

2) The unexpectedly large number of Shocker fans skewed the total in ahunte's favor, but under Article I, Section 2, Clause 3 of the United States Constitution, Wichita State fans count as only three fifths of a person. Making the 3/5 downward adjustment to the reported attendance figure brings the total down to well below 4000.

Pre-edit, it seemed as if you were trying to give yourself a point for the clever, witty response. I concur...therefore:

+1
