Those hearty railbirds are down there up close cheering the horses around the sixteenth pole and into the head of the STRETCH !!! Fans, it is a TWO horse race with PANTHERS and the odds-on favorite WHEATSHOCKERS absolutely destroying the rest of the field--PANTHERS on the rail as they turn for home with Shockers great champion as it is nose to nose and stirrup to stirrup with the big and powerful IOWA horse the bettors' second choice---A full five lengths back is SYCAMORES the steed that came from nowhere to stay an uncomfortable one length up on steady PURPLE ACES and hustling REDBIRDS--
And three back. here comes a dead game young and small RAMBLERS looking for a last bit of courage to head off
a tough late comer BULLDOGS--These two are out of the money, but you would never know it --stride for stride looking for some late pride--
and just now turning for home we see BEARS who could NOT overcome late jockey change a length up on totally overmatched SALUKIS and BRAVES !!

And as they race for home TRACKMAN opines that it might have been a far different race had BEARS not had that jockey trainer spat and RAMBLERS had not thrown that shoe early back at the half mile pole. SHOCKERS and PANTHERS clearly are the CLASS this day, but the race for SHOW might have NOT been so easily decided--
