The state boy's basketball title is heating up. Here is the updated 4A bracket from IHSA:

Last night Normal Community (30-1) advanced to the Sectional Final to face Alton behind 19 points from Alex Peacock. Normal Community's only loss this year was by two points to Rockford Auburn, the school that Fred Van Vleet went to. If NCHS gets by Alton on Friday, they could end up facing Simeon (we've got an offer to Zach Norvell) on Tuesday at Redbird Arena in the Super Sectional.

Normal knocks off #1 Simeon 64-50 at Redbird Arena, outrebounding them 43-32. Normal now 32-1, going to state finals this weekend. I can't believe that Peacock doesn't have any D1 offers.

Peacock had 25 points and 9 boards tonight.

He will undoubtedly have a number of D1 suitors soon. I hope Loyola being on him early helps us land him.

Tonight Normal Community faces Geneva in the State Semifinals, on Comcast Sports Net at 8:15. Normal's Alex Peacock was named to the all-state 2nd team this week. After Normal's win against Simeon on Tuesday, Illinois Prep Bullseye's Roy Schmidt tweeted that Peacock is "one of the most underrecruited players ever in Illinois."

Normal Community vs. Stevenson for the state 4A title at 8:15 tonight on Comcast Sports Net. Peacock (still no D1 offers) had 16 of Normal's 38 points in the win last night, including guarding Geneva's best player and the winning tip-in with 1.8 seconds left (video: http://www.pjstar.com/section?template= ... 426919828#).

Stevenson wins the state title, 57-40 over Normal. Brunson (going to Villanova) had a state title game record of 30 points and Connor Cashaw (going to Rice, despite an offer from us) had a good game. Peacock was held to 10, and got double-teamed inside the arc.

St. Joe's won in the 3A title game.
