CBS sportsline reports that UIC will hire Steve McCain, an assistant at Indiana as its new head coach.

Well, that did not take long !! Unlike when we do things !! This could be a great catch for them. My guess, he is using UIC for a stepping stone, as he moght just be OVER qualified for the spot. Just saying !

Could be he just wanted a job before it all comes down in Bloomington? A $7.5 mil buyout to Tom Crean ain't jackshit for IU alumni. Fully expect it to happen.

That was my thought. Good move to get out. I'd guess UIC fans would prefer a younger coach.

Looks like he could be a really good player development coach. His bio on the Indiana site talks up his recruiting, but it's not hard to recruit at Indiana. He did recruit Julian's Brandon Ewing to go from Chicago to Wyoming, where he led the Mountain West three years in scoring.

I am not sure about this one either. It will depend on who he hires as assistants. I hope we do not lose one of ours to them.
