I guess this is a good thing... any coverage is good coverage, right??? Wasn't a huge fan of how this reporter really pointed out how little respect the CBI gets from other teams and players. It's not exactly a great pep talk to get Chicago basketball fans to come out to The Joe tonight. And than obviously the goof up with saying that we just entered the MVC this year. Kinda lame. |

You'd think that one of those two stories would mention Seattle's glorious past, which occurred during the same era as our best teams. In addition to the game we won against them in 1962 (in the I ❤ History thread), we lost to them in 1958-59 just after Elgin Baylor bailed out on his senior season to go to the Lakers. The score was 70-46, and Seattle was ranked #16 at the time. Both Seattle and Loyola made it to the 1964 Sweet 16, with both teams winning third place in their regions. Another angle with a more positive slant would be the fact that playing in the CBI helps programs move up to the next level. Three of the eight teams in last year's CBI quarterfinals played in the NIT this year (including #1 seed Old Dominion, who can advance to play at Madison Square Garden if they beat Murray State today). Two of the teams that lost in the first round of last year's CBI (Wyoming and Hampton) made it to the NCAA Tournament this year. The 2013 CBI quarterfinals featured Western Michigan (NCAA last year), Wyoming (NCAA this year), Richmond (#1 NIT seed this year), and Purdue (NCAA this year). |

Did anyone catch it? http://chicago.cbslocal.com/audio/mully ... nley-show/ here is the link for Porter's interview on the Score this morning! Click on the link, then play "Football Lives and March Madness - Hour 2 | The Mully and Hanley Show - 3-25-15", and Porter makes his grand appearance around minute 19 of the segment. Besides Mully completely botching the fight song at the beginning, it was a nice interview! |

Thanks for the link! Good interview. I just wish someone would say, "The game is tonight at 7:00 at Gentile Arena. Tickets are $15, and it's general admission so if you get there early you can sit in the front row." |
