Per Verbal Commits, Loyola just offered these two local kids. http://www.verbalcommits.com/schools/loyola-il Lieb is a 6'10" PF/C from Deerfield who plays AAU ball with the Illinois Wolves. He will play next year at Brewster Academy, Blake Schilb's alma mater. Jones is a 6'3" shooting guard who plays for Bogan in the Chicago Public League, and on the Mean Streets AAU squad, along with another recruiting target of ours in Lorenzo Edwards. Jones was a teammate with Luwane Pipkins at Bogan, a point guard we recruited last year who signed with U. Mass. Reportedly Illinois State is our main rival for Jones. Jones visited Loyola last week. |

Jones would be a great get. An good player added to the team, outrecruiting a conference rival who is also looking to build a pipeline in our neck of the woods, gaining another really good Chicago player to complement the success stories of Doyle and Ingram (if he keeps progressing). Lieb would be a good get as a local kid and height-wise (Kirby could be in his last season and Rajala a junior when he comes in). More importantly, he would give us some prestige on the recruiting trail. Other Brewster Academy alums include: Thomas Robinson (Kansas-Philadelphia) Jeff Adrien (UConn-Minnesota) Will Barton (Memphis-Denver) Mitch McGary (Michigan-Oklahoma City) Tony Buckets Warren (NC State-Phoenix) JaKarr Sampson (St. John's-Philadelphia) CJ Fair (Syracuse-D League) That's 7 guys who played high level D1 Basketball, most of them drafted pretty high too (Robinson was the 5th overall pick). There are a couple Iowa St. and Colorado guys from Brewster too who are playing overseas now. He will assuredly get looks from high major schools like those mentioned above as a 6'10 kid playing top prep basketball typically does. Plus, this program IMO is better than most prep programs like say Sunrise Christian. Landing a player from Brewster would be a huge feather in our cap. |
