This isn't the first time Loyola may not have gotten what they bargained for in statuary.
Old timers will remember the large modern aluminum sculpture attached to the west wall of Cudahy Library.

The Jesuits tried to call the sculpture "Resurectia", but the artist's name for it, "Erection", proved much more apt. A still more descriptive title would be "Erection with Vagina".
After a few years, the Jesuits realized they were fighting a losing battle in trying to pass off the 20 foot phallus as a metaphor for the Resurrection, so the sculpture was removed, and only a faint shadow of it remains on the limestone wall of Cudahy.
Alas, The Erection is just a fading memory for old Ramblers...Sic Transit Viagra.
