We are hot at the moment ! If we play as we have lately our quickness as well as good shooting will bring us through. The way we drive to the basket could cuse their BIGS some problems.. We must run because we do not board well. I believe we can get to the line a lot. Our Defense will be just fine.

WE GAVE A CHANCE. It is up to the team--PM must NOT go conservative, their Bigs will eat us alive if he does--I think.

A little Valentine's Day matinee.

Valentine's, not Balentine's.

Here's hoping it's not a massacre

Weighted projection says there is a 96% chance we will be the 8 seed. Which really sucks because that means we will have the Shockers on Friday.

Need to go 3-1 to finish the year to have a prayer at a the 7 seed. Today would have been a massive win for our chances.

That is absolutely terrible news! If we finish 14-16 (2-2 in our last 4) and win Thurs and lose Fri to Wichita St. in St. Louis; the season will end two weeks from Friday before 2:30 pm at 15-17.

The win over UNI (and Illinois State's win over Indiana State) boosted our chances at the 6th seed according to this site:

https://www.teamrankings.com/ncaa-baske ... rojections

Specifically, we went from a 3.9% chance of 6th to 8.6%. Tonight, Missouri State plays at Wichita State. I expect our chances will go up to above 10% if WSU wins. After tonight, here's the remaining schedule:

Missouri State
vs. Loyola
vs. Drake
at SIU

Indiana State
vs. Wichita State
at UNI
vs. Bradley

Loyola
at Missouri State
vs. Wichita State
at Drake

JCT, thinking long term do you see the team accepting a CBI/CIT bid if offered?

I think we will finish the season 15-15. I think we are going to have to play Thursday, which might actually help us to a tournament because it would give us a chance at 2 possible wins in Saint Louis as opposed to maybe just one or none if we got the 6th. If we realize that we don't have what it takes this year to knock out WSU, maybe a Thursday game isn't a bad thing if we want to keep playing in a post season?

No. I think the fact we had two four-year starters last season (Thomas and Crisman), the 30-year drought in postseason, and the better overall performance than this year was a compelling reason to do the CBI. Those considerations aren't there this year. The NIT or better was our goal for this season; losing twice in Alaska, losing to Cleveland State at home, and losing at home to Bradley in conference shot that out of the water. Even if we went 11-7 in the MVC by the end after those setbacks, I don't think we'd have made the NIT.

As of now, our goal should be finishing as high as possible in the MVC seedings. We can worry about what happens next when we find out where we are at the end of the regular season. To me, it doesn't make any sense to try and jockey for a position (7th vs. 8th, etc.). Some of that equation is always going to be up to others, and there are always a lot of unintended consequences, surprises, upsets, etc.
