RIVALS lists the Ramblers recruiting a pair of 6'7" jucos in Pape Diatta and Tredarius McCallum. We have offered Diatta. I hope we don't offer McCallum. He is a basketball vagabond who was dismissed from his high school team, spent a year at a basketball factory prep school, then a year at one junior college before transferring to his current way station of Indian Hills. And he is one scary looking dude... |

Diatta's ESPN page shows Wichita as having had interest (presumably when he was a high schooler). Maybe SubGod knows something about him? |

There's a mug shot of McCallum on Mugshots.com. He was arrested at age 19 for some unknown offense. Don't know the disposition. We should not offer this guy. By the way, he is listed as only 6'5" on his rap sheet... |

Looks like Diatta went to JUCO with Tyson Smith for a year at Southern Idaho. Seems like they have a pretty solid program out there and Diatta may be good get. A forward who is able to stretch the D and works hard down low. Perhaps similar in style to Christian and Montel? In February he went for 42 and 14 on the road. I'd just be curious to see how he plays with his back to the basket. http://www.kmvt.com/content/sports/CSIs ... 95671.html Looking at their roster they have some other D1 talent. Shaq Carr would be a good get for someone, former 3 star guard who previously committed to UTEP. Seems like him and Diatta lead the team from the few stories I read. I don't know if we ideally want to get another guard with either of these last two spots. But the Earl-Montel pairing certainly worked out well. |

The word down at Arch Madness is that Coach is REALLY looking for a big man. It was interesting in both games at Arch Madness PM was really challenging Rajala to be tougher....He had one great stretch against BU but in another against WS after losing a rebound (went up one-handed,Montell always with two) he got yanked Coach was not happy Rajala was not happy. Julius mumbles all the way to the end of the bench. I think his development will be key to this team next year. Mr.Kirby I hope progresses but................like my golf game.....long way to go. I am hoping that there is a 5th year senior out there looking to get an MBA from Quinlan. |

Kirby has slimmed down a lot since the beginning of the season, so he must be putting in the work on conditioning. He seems like a good kid from a nice family. He hustles, but I don't see him developing into more than a servicable backup. Just not very athletic. I think Julius has a little more upside. He is much taller than Kirby (even though both are listed at 6'9") and runs the floor better. Has better hands and shooting form. He needs to add some muscle. I would like to see him shoot a three. Moser said when he signed that Julius had 3 point range. Julius just too reluctant to pull the trigger, probably because he knows Moser's propensity to yank players after missing a shot he considers ill advised. |

I feel like Rajala would be a lot better if he puts on some weight this offseason and gets stronger. If you compare him to other big men in the league like Morris and Barker on Bradley, Rajala looks like a twig. If he does get stronger that will help his post game and it would help with his positioning down low because I feel like he just gets pushed around a lot by defenders and can't hold his ground when posting up. Rajala has shown potential this season as this next year is key for his development. |

It seems like he might be a solid stretch 4 given his stats (31.6% from 3). Not exactly the bruiser of Montel/Thomas but at 6'7, 210 shouldn't be completely overmatched down low. I'm wasn't totally going to bash McCollum; maybe he's turned a page. But the 6'5 in the mugshot is enough for me to pass... |

We were looking at Diatta in HS. I don't remember much about him off the top of my head though. |
